First TrackMania DS video

1:55 PM on 08.01.2008   |   Brad Nicholson

There is something about small cars that have the propensity to go really fast that really gets my blood pumping. Add that to the accessibility of a handheld device, and I’m nearly sold. Today, Focus Home Interactive provided us with the first video of TrackMania DS, which is due for release at the end of the year.

TrackMania DS is essentially a racing game that features crazy driving physics. Every track will have tons of loops, jumps and barriers to navigate with just yourself or your friends via multiplayer. The coolest thing that TrackMania has going for it is a massive track editor that you can utilize to assemble your own tracks and then share with your friends. If you’re familiar with the series on Steam, then you’ll quickly realize just how addicting the game can become.

The video is a bit corny, I agree, but I’m pretty excited that Focus was able to put the game together for the DS platform. Don't forget to check out the gallery below if the video didn't give you enough of a feel for the game.

Oh wait, I just saw the screens.
They are awfully stretched...

It's even more exciting that they use home video instead of simulated gameplay. At least we know what it's actually capable of. Either way, if there's no method of importing Nations Forever tracks then I'm going to have to give this a second thought.

Wow, I am seriously impressed that this game looks that good. Granted Trackmania isn't exactly a graphics whore anyway but damn they look like they've made the port near perfectly.

Now console version please?

I love how fast they transfer the maps and jump right into the game... If they have optimized the game to run that quickly and look that good I want to buy it now. Like right now, now.

It looks really good, hopefully it lives up to the previous games in the series.

My Trackmania-playing PC-owning friend will be interested in this. If it has the kind of world 'leaderboard' stuff that 'United' had, then I might think about a purchase as well.
