Although the home game is going to be conspicuously absent from E3, the Tekken 6 arcade cabinets have already begun rolling out in Japan, resulting in the above shakeycam extravaganza, and an additional two which lurk after the jump.

First impressions? Well to be honest, while the video quality is less that great, it'd take a Super Hi-Vision hologram display beamed directly into my brain through a metal spike jammed into my eye to get my pulse raised over Tekken these days. I'm not saying that Tekken 6 is necessarily going to be a bad game. In fact there's every chance it'll be just the opposite. It's just that with so many new and interesting games coming out this year and next, and Virtua Fighter 5 on the way, another Tekken sequel is a couple of spaces above Halo 3 on the list of games I really do not need in my life.

Still, between the last trailer and these videos it looks to be a solid next-gen iteration of the series and it's bound to find a massive fanbase regardless of my curmudgeonly protests, so hit the jump for the rest of the videos and check out the gallery for a couple of photos.

Out of all the fighting games, I've always hated DOA and Tekken the most.

Disgusting..

Tekken3 is still the best. All of these sequels now are doing my head in. Why can't we just leave them to rest? I'll tell you one thing - it may have been a SFII clone but Body Blows on the Amiga needs to be brought back to life. You don't see Team17 developing much good stuff nowadays, but I feel that would bring them back into the fighting genre and breathe some new life into the genre.

Cheers Dale. My apathy (That is a word for the purpose of this post) about this is great enough to take down a coked up gorilla at the moment.

Also, generic cocks.

I'm a overall fan of the whole fighting simulation genre but to me it seems as if the Tekken series is drifting into the darkness because of lack of ideas. I suppose for a beat 'em up there isn't much you can do but it just seems that the Tekken series seem to just clone Tekken 3 rather than add anything to it, maybe even put in a better, wait, decent storyline.

I remember when playing Tekken used to be fun, though, I'll never be completely happy with Tekken at all until they put Gon back in.

Tempus, I second that. Tekken 3 was the best!

Wait, so everyone applauds VF5 and it's onlineification, but they sigh a collective "meh" for another similarly developed game?

Is this because Tekken 6 is a PS3 exclusive?

I have an idea, let's post videos of the new Tekken and then have a hater party. Let's also see if we can get people hating some more on Halo as well.

Rah, everyone is negative here. I play this game competitively and seeing these vids is great news, the fact it looks like tekken is a GOOD thing. Don't fix whats not broken, otherwise you end up with Tekken 4 *shudder*

Tekken is one of the most solid 3D fighters out there, and to be perfectly honest, to everyone out there who is saying "Sigh, not Another one", haven't you got bigger things to worry about like I dunno.. any sequel?

I just don't get why everyone wants gimmicks in their games, the whole drifting into sameness is not the case. It's perfecting and tweeking an already working engine. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the last tekken. As for graphics, I agree to an extent; they could be better but remember this is Arcade and by PS3 release theres a good chance the graphics will be ALOT better.

Fanboy out-

Can anyone tell me why they use doa for like tournaments? That game is fucking terrible compared to tekken. It has like two attack buttons.

At least tekken has some style. Doa is mash the controller until there life is gone.

@sunami88

You know absolutely nothing about fighting games (and games in general) if you just think its mashing buttons

Do you honestly think people who are good at this game are good because of how quickly they can push random buttons and hope to win?

Im very excited about this game. Looks like classic tekken with more characters. You cant go wrong with that.

anyone who says tekken is a button masher knows nothing about tekken and shouldnt talk about tekken, or fighting games in general.

go back to your final fantasies thank you very much.

i bought a ps1 solely for tekken2 and bought a ps2 solely for tekken tag. unfortunately, i dont think tekken6 is enough for me to justify a ps3 this time around.

i'll be waiting for the xbox 360 announcement.

well then your "friend" really isn't a pro...at all, and needs a lot more practise. seriously, Youtube nin or ryan hart or quadans or tissuemon, those are some top players in the world, you'll see that its sure as hell at high level play you can't just mash your way to victory.
