During E3 last week, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Universal Pictures quietly announced a videogame based off of the film, Wanted. You know, the film starring James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, and Angelina Jolie ... that was based on a comic book miniseries. Follow along: a game based on a movie that was based on a comic book.

Developed by GRIN (Bionic Commando, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter), the game picks up where the film left off, continuing the story of hero Wesley Gibson. The third-person action title will focus heavily on action, including "Curving Bullets" and "Assassin Time" mechanics snatched directly from the film. Wanted (the videogame based on the movie based on the comic) will also incorporate some sort of "advanced cover mechanic" which relies heavily on the environment and other items.

We were set to check out a behinds-closed-doors preview of the game at this year's E3, but when Chad arrived, they accidentally ushered everyone into the room but him. Hand of God. That actually happened. Go ask him.

In any case, we have reasonably high hopes for the game: veteran film to decent game producer Pete Wanat (The Thing, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay) is involved in bringing the title to life. Wanted (the videogame based on the movie based on the comic) is set to hit consoles and PC sometime this year.

Well, the Men In Black games were video games based on movies based on comic books, and look how those turned... oh yeah.

After meeting the dudes at Grin, I really want to like this game. However, I haven't enjoyed a licensed movie game since Fester's Quest back on the old NES.

Why couldn't they be making a They Live game, or a Buckaroo Banzai game? Why did it have to be something like this?

Was Chad wearing the Dinosaur vest when this happened? Because I think I might know why they left him behind.

It would be nice if it turned out, but I don't think I can hold my breath that long.

I wouldn't play it unless it has Sh*thead, Mr.Rictus and all them fun characters in it.

COMIC BOOK VERSION IS BETTER! THEY SHOULD MAKE THAT INTO A VIDEO GAME!

You know, when I saw this movie, my first thought was "This would be a neat video game if done right."

I'll definitely be giving this one a shot if they do it right. :D

@TurboSpaz
I know, but I felt I could present it better. And so I did.

On the subject of "bad games off of movies" and games based off movies based off of comics: Spiderman 2 was amazing. That is all.
