First scans of Final Fantasy Upcoming Release #54820 (FFTA2) photo

Seriously, they're like Borg nowadays. "We will add your distinctiveness to our own," mumbles Square-Enix, shambling towards our favorite franchises and classic titles. Then the leatherly paw extends and -- well, you know the rest.

I'm really stoked for Final Fantasy Tactics A2 on the DS; I loved me some Final Fantasy Tactics Advance almost more than the original, so any more love coming in a similar scope and style as the GBA's series reboot makes me a happy bunny. But after months of new announcements, big Square-Enix parties, and over thirteen Final Fantasy titles in development, I feel a wee bit anaesthetized to the thrill and rush of discovering a yet-unreleased Final Fantasy title. But let's put that aside and hope for the best, yeah? Ivalice is the best thing Square-Enix still has going for it.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2 is poised as a sequel to the original Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, set in a sort of storybook Ivalice, as opposed to the rape-murder-deceit-pillage Ivalice of Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story and FFXII. The first shots revealed for FFTA2 reveals a similar battle system and visual style to its predecessor, highlighting specifically two lead characters, Adel and Luso. The new races introduced in FFTA make a return with Bangaas and Vieras in tow, but it's likely to assume that some new anthropomorphic allies will be hurled into the mix by the game's release -- maybe lobster-men who walk upright, I dunno.

Why in the blue hell are they releasing this for the GBA?

oh well, not like i'll care anyways for a terrible sequal to a terrible game when it drops, Cause i'll be playing Revnant wings and FFT-PSP around that time.

I like the look of the new characters, but I'm kinda out of the loop: I thought even though the title was Advance 2, it was to be a DS title. Am I wrong? I sure hope so, because those graphics look like -ass- for DS. e_e

So long as they get rid of that farking rule system. That was the worst idea ever. I was ok with restricting weapons... then spells.... but when I got the rule that I couldn't use the Fight command... argh! That made me return the game to Gamestop right then and their. Its one thing to introduce new game mechanics. But that kind of restriction is just asinine.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!

oh wait, this is not the psp one! YES!!!

thank god... FFTA was a shit ass story line for me, FFT for PS1 was the best story and honestly, enough* jobs to have fun in the entire game. replay and funfactor factors were a high on FFT, and Sony blessed my wishes with making FFT2 (NOT advanced) cuz that series was meant for 10 year olds to say...

Looks promising, since I did enjoy FFTA. I'm not seeing any indication of Marche and friends. Is this posed to be a direct sequel to the events of FFTA, or is FFTA2 more or less independent of the original story?

Also, as much as I like the concept of the judges, will there be a revision of the Law System? It did have some issues.

As much as I enjoyed FFTA after I started play disgaea and its sequel I never really looked back, crazy level limits for the win.

Ah FFTA... The great divider of time. I could swear I gave myself a hemorrhoid from sitting on the toilet with this game so much. I played the crap out of this game, literally.

Okay... WTF is up with an ad for Hanna Montana on the right hand side of this page? I'm all for sponsors for this site, but is the Disney Channel really spending their marketing dollars wisely by pitching us Hanna Montana? Shouldn't ads like that be better served on GameFAQs or Joystiq?

Where's the ads that serve us? Stuff like tshirthell, or Cock Ring Warehouse?

Or better still, where's ads for Japanese whorehouses? Considering the majority of the readership on this site, we're all entitled to a little bit more titillation than we're offered on a daily basis. Please try this train molestation whorehouse.

Squeenix has finally reached a new stage of cross-dressing, the lead male character is wearing nylons. That match his hair, no less.

I thought FFTA was lame as hell. I played it through emulation and I have to say I would have been pissed had I spent money on it. It felt like everything that made FFT cool was missing. Not to mention the stupid law system. NO ATTACKS OR YOU GO TO JAIL, DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $200!!!

@genmo: yes, I'm 85% sure that's a dude. Hopefully that's just the soldier outfit, so I can avoid it by never making any characters soldiers.

I loved everything about FFTA except for that godawful storyline. And also Marche's hair. WTF was it doing?
