First next-gen Splatterhouse screens hit the web, very bloody photo

Czech gaming Web site Tiscali Games has just posted the first screenshots from Namco Bandai's upcoming next-gen gore fest, Splatterhouse.

From the screens the game looks to have a God of War-like vibe, with the 'roid-raged Rick tearing apart monsters with both his bare hands, in addition to busting skulls with his trademark wooden board. Other than the fact that Rick looks disproportional and ridiculous (which we already were prepared for), there's not much else to go on.

I'm all about tearing off monster's heads and smashing in their faces with 2x4s, but I'm going to remain cautious about this title. There's something about it that just looks ... off. Am I alone in this feeling?

I'll try it out. I never liked splatterhouse games. I think their greatness was a bit over-exaggerated because they were some of the first somewhat gory games to hit the market. However, I've realized that shunning games based directly on their screenshots is not a good idea, and I've missed a few games as a result.

I read the EGM preview first, so I was wondering why everyone was complaining... then I looked at the screens shown on the site. Yeah, not the best showcase of the game. The EGM article (plus the fact that this game is far from release) gives me hope.

yeah.. i loved mark of kri, but this doesnt look that good. then again, i never was a fan of the 16 bit splatterhouse series, and this is still early in development so who knows. i do know that im not a big fan of over the top gore... its just not amusing to me (not trying to sound like a snob, just my preference).

once again though, loved mark of kri, almost forgot about those games. those guys need to make a ps3 game, thatd be swell.

Ya its off big time, before he looked like a Jason hulk, now he looks like a mutant with a mask. Which to me means its probably dipped down on the story which was a major area of greatness with the originals in that weird spooky sort of way. Also since its no longer in a super haunted house it appears the story might have changed all together.

Wow, sure is alot of unnecessary bitching going on.
Unless I'm really missing something here this is still a WIP.
Screenshots don't really do any game justice, you gotta see it in motion. Also that PS1 shit's a ridiculous comparison.
Granted it could still be a shit game, but the mass amount of rather ungrounded criticism makes me wonder why I'm trying to get an education to go into game development if any games I work on are just going to be played by a large community of whiny hype-train riding lil' bitches.
Don't bother flaming, I won't be checking the comments to read it anyways.

As excited as I am about this release. I just don't think that it will suit a next-gen console. As Luigi Takes Over said, a PSP/DS release would be a MUCH better ided. Instead, they have what appears to be some pretty lame graphics on a high powered console, daym.

@Nick Chester: Actually, the game is being made by Bottle Rocket and they only did Rise of the Kasai, not Mark of Kri. SCEA worked on the first game, which got higher reviews and was better in my opinion. Bottle Rocket took over for the second one, and although i dont trust all reviews, it recieved an average of 20 points lower than Mark of Kri.
