Mass Effect, the controversial lesbian orgy simulation with some minor space shooting action, will be getting some fresh new content on March 10th. The "Bring Down the Sky" DLC will run for 400 MS points (which is $40 in Nick Chester currency) and offer 90 minutes of new story. The new story introduces a new alien race called the Batarians whom have hijacked an asteroid station that has been set on a collision course onto the planet Terra Nova.
For the five dollars, you're getting 90 minutes of new story and gameplay. This, to me, is DLC done right. Hit the jump for the PR and to see how much the new pack will add to your achievement scores.
The Epic Journey Continues with the Release of the First Downloadable Content for the Sci-Fi Blockbuster "Mass Effect" on March 10, 2008
To date, more than 1.6 million gamers have explored the engaging sci-fi universe of "Mass Effect." Beginning on March 10, fans everywhere will be able to expand the "Mass Effect" experience with the release of the first ever downloadable content for the award-winning saga.
The "Bring Down the Sky" downloadable content pack will be released to Xbox LIVE Marketplace on Monday, March 10 at 2 a.m. PDT, and will be available for 400 MS points. This is the first in a series of planned downloadable content that further expands the "Mass Effect" universe and continues the adventures of Commander Shepard and the Normandy crew.
"Bring Down the Sky" includes a new uncharted world that introduces the notorious and feared alien race of the Batarians. A Batarian extremist group has hijacked a mobile asteroid station in the Asgard system, setting it on a collision course with the nearby colony world of Terra Nova. Only Commander Shepard can save the millions of innocent civilians before the asteroid completes its deadly descent.
"Bring Down the Sky" contains approximately 90 minutes of heart-pounding action and a new Achievement worth 50 Gamerscore points.

DLC!
Snoop Dogg is playable.
This is freaking awesome. This is how DLC should be done.
I won't bother playing Hardcore difficulty again. It's not that hard, its just that the enemies have so much damn life ;P
And 50 experiance points. Please say this means a further 4 DLCs are on the way to bring it up to its downloadable achievement quota.
Sorry, but odds are this is content they had done or at least partially completed and it somehow got cut from the final release of the game. Boo for having to pay extra for it :(
Boo for being a negative Nancy.
:)
$5 for 45 minutes of dialog trees and 45 minutes of action?
$5 for 90 minutes of straight up action?
$5 for 20 minutes of vehicle crap followed by 40 minutes of dialog and 30 minutes of combat?
Seriously, this really seems like an awful deal except for those Mass Effect fans that completed every side quest before finishing the main game.
I second the comment of wanting a free patch that allows to go back and continue the game after finishing the main storyline. I'm not about to replay the entire game just so I can access this $5 content.
Listen, DLC is a way of life, like it or not. And like it or not, a lot of it probably isn't going to be worth the cost. So, when something like this comes along - whether it was withheld from the retail game or not - I think we need to salute it. Mass Effect is a robust, lengthy game. It's not lacking any content (shut up, Jim), so anything new is welcome, I believe. And $5 for a 1-2 hour mission? Reasonable.
VAGINAFACE!
is it best to dl this after you beat the game? i have never added dlc to any games
Unless they fix the game to allow you to go back and finish missions you skipped before you beat the game (presently when the game ends...That's it, you can't go back and finish other stuff), you'll want to download it first and play it.
I'm still amazed at the people that think $5 is reasonable for this paltry type of add-on given the overall scope/length of the game. Unless it's wedged into the main storyline, you'd still have to hunt it down to even access it.
I just hope it's real gameplay instead of 5 the same looking bases on different planets filled with different enemies.
I loved the main story of Mass Effect but when I tried to get the completionist achievement I just got bored with the repetitiveness of the sidequests..
It has got my interrest but I would first like to read some opinions on the DLC once it's released before I buy it.
Although this would be nice to spend my points on since i have 1300 left after REZ
