First major Dawn of War II patch coming on or around launch day photo

With upwards of 250,000 unique players participating in the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II beta, I think we can call it a success. Although more and more these days it seems like the differences between betas and demos are diminishing, don't think Relic isn't going to take your feedback to heart.

The developer has released a lengthy list of all the fixes being included in Dawn of War II's first patch, which is now being certified by Microsoft and should be out "at launch or within a few days of the game shipping to stores."

Relic has an explanation for some of the bigger gameplay tweaks here, but if you want the full list, click this link instead. Besides making adjustments to suppression and Requisition, the patch is also bringing two new multiplayer maps (one 1v1, one 3v3) along with it.

It's also worth mentioning that player stats and leaderboards will be reset when the patch's formatting changes go into effect. Sucks, I know.

Why don't they just release an entire game instead of a beta (+1 or 2 maps) and single player campaign consisting of the MP maps.

I'm sorry but when you patch your game on day one....something went really wrong in the development process

Interesting! So MS *can* certify patches very quickly and get them out to us. In other words, somebody's lying when all these developers tell us that "we sent the patch in for certification a long time ago, but we're waiting on Microsoft". *cough* Behemoth *cough*

Or its the round of balance fixes and tweaks that usually takes developers months to get out?

Not that I am looking forward to the game anymore, not enough there past what I played in the beta to warrant a purchase.

I don't think Demos and Betas are becoming more a like. I think the process for getting into beta is becoming thinner allowing dumb people in who don't know the difference. That's about it.

A long time ago the common man didn't even know what a beta was, now all these nublets are in every single one.

Also all games get patches, day one patched games means they were doing what they were suppose to before day one instead of starting on day one.

@xhumation

the fact that a patch is quickly coming means the devs learned from the beta what was off with the balancing/exploits and such, and their willing to be on top of their shit.
a dev that willing to listen to their community gets props for sure.

@anevilbrowny

what?

I'd rather they wait a few days before release so they could get it right, but I'll still buy it.

I used to think that day-0 patches were bullshit, but considering that balance issues rarely get worked out after months of in-house testing anyways, might as well let people have at it and just patch problems out later.
