First look: New Street Fighter IV character Crimson Viper photo

The new fighting game character news just keeps rolling in today! Courtesy of the latest issue of Famitsu, we get out first look at the newest addition to the Street Fighter world.

I continue to approach all Street Fighter IV news with cautious optimism. The game is being produced by a man who worked heavily on the god awful Capcom Fighting Evolution, and visually there are many niggling complaints to be made about the game thus far, but at least it's a new Street Fighter game. That's something I wasn't sure I'd ever see. Now Street Fighter IV officially has given us something we never had in the Street Fighter world before -- a red haired, brown-skinned woman with a flair for half-opened, button-up shirts and hair styles popular with Japanese biker gangs in the 1950s.

My feelings on this are understandably mixed. I'm just hoping that unlike Poison for Final Fight, Crimson Viper will never give me cause to think "WHY PENIS WHY?"

[Via NeoGaf - Thanks, Justin]

I'm not really sure what to say... I guess new ideas are always good, but in the end its all about the gameplay.

Spoiler: Crimson Viper IS Dark Smoke Puncher.
Yes, I recycled my own joke. That's still more bearable than Ryu's bulge.

Meh. She looks OK. Don't really care. I just want to see more of the game, and yes, they are sticking to the core Street Fighter II characters so quit yer bitchin' about keeping it original. A little extra never hurt anyone.

I had to look up the word niggling to make sure it was a real word. You just stomped my mind grapes into mind wine with your large vocab. Also, crimson viper would not even have been allowed as a call sign in the movie top gun which had such winners as iceman and maverick.

She looks okay. I'd only mind if she was a cheap fighter or a rubbish-to-use one.

I translated the name myself using a Katakana chart and and a little imagination.

The direct phonetic translation of the Katakana to her right is "Ku-Ri-Mu-Zo-N Vu-Ai-Pa".

So don't have me fired if it turns out that her name is actually "Cream son, wipe her".

@Niero: That was SFIII: Third Strike. According to Capcom logic this would then have to be SFIII: Third Strike Turbo Thighs Edition

@Johnathon: Design-wise, she reminds me of the Street Fighter EX characters mixed with KOF. I'm simply not sure how successful that will be for Capcom considering how poorly the EX games did. Also, I salute your banner as you did mine; it's fucking tight.
