IGN has the first look and first official reveal of Nihilistic's upcoming PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade title, Zombie Apocalypse. We had reported on rumors of the game back in February, with the OFLC seemingly confirming its existence a month later. Now, we finally see the game in action and for undead fans, it looks glorious.
The twin-stick shooter is being described as a cross between Burn Zombie Burn! and Left 4 Dead, which to me sounds like a good thing. You take on the role of one of four survivors, fighting off wave after wave of zombies as you battle for survival over a number of days. As our rumors had indicated, chainsaws make an appearance, as does cooperative multiplayer.
Apparently when our tipster said you'd fight across "several days" they had meant 55 days. Yes, the game will feature 55 days of zombie slaughtering action spread across several locations. Pack a lunch.
The full IGN review has video and screenshots. Zombie Apocalypse is set to hit PSN and XBLA in Q2 2009.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
FFS though, it feels like there's a new game featuring Zombies nearly every week. Isn't about time that developers/publishers picked something to fetishise.
If developers ever find a way of incorporating Bald Space Marine into Zombie games...I shudder to think.
I remember watching the original Romero classic Night of the Living Dead, the comedy infused horror film Return of the Living Dead Part II, Romero's Dawn of the Dead and many other zombie flicks, as a kid, and thinking how cool they were!
I love zombies! Why? Not sure exactly... Maybe because the concept seemed the most plausible
Then in 1996 Capcom released the epic Resident Evil and I was in zombie heaven! I could not only watch zombie movies, I could now play a zombie game! Pretty sick.
I never would imagine how much more cool zombie things were to come out! Everything from The Zombie Survival Guide, the new Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, Shaun of the Dead and more! And new zombie games kept coming as well!
The infected are here and they are here to stay!
It hasn't stopped...
And I couldn't be happier!
Brains! Brains!
