Earlier today, THQ announced that it would be publishing Metro 2033, a first-person shooter based on a best-selling Russian novel, for Xbox 360 and PC in early 2010.
Now, we bring you the first look at the game that NVIDIA's Ujesh Desai says "boasts some of the most advanced graphics and PhysX effects" he's ever seen. The trailer shows off a war torn subway in Moscow, where residents have taken refuge after a post apocalyptic event.
While THQ (or the trailer, actually) doesn't come out and say it... there are monsters involved. Just check out the box art... yup, that's a monster in the reflection of those goggles. And it looks pissed.
No, that would be silly. I want an opinion based on three screens, box art, and a one-minute and 30 second trailer that barely shows any gameplay. Sheeesh.
How does no one remember the article on this in the Halo Wars issue of OXM? It had tons of screen-shots and story details. I read it when I'm poopin' at work, because it's the only magazine there that isn't The New Yorker.
The shot with the group of people crowded around the guy playing guitar got me intrigued. If they can really flesh out the story it might be able to separate itself from the multitude of post-apocalyptic shooters. Definitely seems like it could be worth atleast renting but I guess we'll see when it gets closer to release.
I wish more games that don't have English speaking characters would have the actual language in it. To me it takes something from the overall experience and ambient.
It looks good nevertheless. I have a feeling it won't run on my PC though.
Looks pretty neat, if only because the guy's accent actually sounds authentic...
I agree with Gazp, more non-English voiceover in games would be pretty cool.

I dunno.
