Another Kingdom Hearts sequel with a name that makes no sense at all. At least it's kinda catchy and it makes it seem like if KH met Inception.
Kingdom Hearts games have the worst names (and yes I get the 3D thing). "Kingdom Hearts" itself is a pretty awful name, and the whole thing reeks of bad fan fiction... Don't mind me, I'm just being horrible and bitter.
Dang, I expected a better reception than this in the comments! I thought the last couple of Hearts games on DS and PSP were pretty well received? (Just going by reviews and comments from friends, I've only played the first two PS2 games, and those only for a few hours.)
As much as I love Kingdom Hearts (and I love me my Kingdom Hearts), I'll be waiting and seeing with this game. I'm not really in the mood for another retelling of the first game (isn't that what Coded's deal is too?).

Awful name, I didn't think BBS or 358/2 were to bad a names, but Dream Drop Distance that just sounds terrible, it sounds like something a 3rd grader came up with after he learned about alliterations.

@Scissors - it's still Haley Joel Osmond. He reprises the role every time, even in the one that just came out on DS.

People have been complaining for KH3 before KH2 even came out. They also complained about KH coming to handhelds before any screens were shown. Though wanting KH3 now is justified as it is long over do.
The handheld games were pretty good, but the story has become convoluted. the new sequels seem to just be adding new questions instead of answering questions. The first 3 games had great stories, but now they kinds suck the Director has admitted that now he's just making it up as he goes. I'm still kinda excited for this, but I'm not as enthusiastic as I should be, because although the gameplay and graphics are great. The "magic" isn't really there anymore

I liked every Kingdom Hearts except Chain of Memories, which wasn't an action game.

From the title alone I can tell that the whole game is going to be a dream and therefore they can milk another spinoff game without actually making significant canonical effects on the main game's story. Yet kingdom hearts fans will still buy it because it will have some secret movie at the end which gives extremely vague hints at kingdom hearts 3, not realizing they could just watch the endig off of YouTube.
If Square Enix recicle any of the Kingdom Hearts 1 worlds AGAIN, I will give them a punch in the dream drops!

I would so buy more Kingdom Hearts games if there was a "Turn story OFF" option. I love the gameplay but I think it has probably the most convoluted and just plain stupid story on the whole industry.

Were I to rate each game by RPG elements, KH and KH2 would land at the very bottom. Were I to pick the worst characters in the series, it would be Sora and Kairi.
All the handheld games have been better, as they've required not only a pulse to play, but some actual thought as well.
Everyone that isn't Sora or Kairi is far more interesting and ultimately serve to make those to weak, rancid characters worth a damn.

ARGH!! Just bring KH3 to PS3 and 360 already! I love Kingdom Hearts, I really do, but this bullshit has to stop. And whats with a lot of the handheld titles being included with the first one. Are we taking steps back and fixing the story now or what?

Well, even it is a spin-off, it's probably one similar to Chain of Memories in that it progresses the storyline. Seriously, people seem to forget that Kingdom Hearts 2 immediately continued from Chain of Memories's plot, since half of Organization xiii dies in that one, and Sora is sealed away in it. I feel like people will feel better if arbitrary numbers are added to the spin-offs.... BBS=0, Chain of Memories = 1.5, 358/2 = 1.8, Coded = 2.1, and now DDD = 2.5.

Don't people realize it will be at least until 2012 that a Kingdom Hearts 3 is released, even if there wasn't any spin-offs? Nomura is just too busy with Final Fantasy Versus XIII, so it's impossible for him to work on Kingdom Hearts 3 until he finished Versus XIII. I bet if there were absolutely no spin-offs being made, people would either stop caring about the franchise completely, or everyone would be shouting "Come on! At least give us a spin-off Square Enix! Anything!"
Looked up some details, and this game actually happens after KH2 (and KH Re:Coded), but right before KH3. That doesn't explain why Sora and Riku look like they do in KH1, but the reason why I'm actually interested in this game? Nearly every Disney world is reported to be new, and I can already see The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Still, I can only pray that Square Enix finishes up Final Fantasy Versus XIII soon so they can put that team to work on Kingdom Hearts III.

@Bob Muir - There's a bit where Yen Sid speaks about "dreams" and also "mastery" in the grailer. I'm not much on Japanese. but it seems to suggest Sora and Riku are being prepared for their Mark of Mastery exam (which Aqua and Terra participated in at the start of BBS), so perhaps the reason they're younger is they're exploring a part of the game in dreams.

KH2 was fin as hell, especially towards the end. Sure the story wasnt nearly as good, but still it was fun.
As for the whole in-between games, I am not really a guy that plays handhelds. Hell, I dont even have one. (Although I want the 3DS) So I probably just get the basic story and wait for the third one.
