While the fairly recent CGI trailer for FUEL was impressive, what CGI trailer isn't impressive these days, at least visually? Today, Codemasters has released another video, but this time the footage is entirely in-game.
Upon watching the above trailer, I was pleasantly surprised to not be greeted by Wolfmother's "Woman," a song which has made an appearance in virtually every racing game trailer. Ever.
The game's main draw will undoubtedly be its environment, which features "100,000 miles of roads, tracks and trails." I was also impressed with the weather effects shown -- apparently, the full game will have a dynamic system with "tornadoes, sandstorms, blizzards, lightening and thunderstorms."
My only concern at this point is whether or not FUEL's huge environment will be too overwhelming, depending on how the game's objectives are set up. FUEL doesn't hit Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC until May, so we've got plenty of time to find out.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

One really cool thing that the gameplay video doesn't show you is that The game also allows you to create your own races using the in-game race editor in which any combination of co-ordinates, barring those submerged in water, can be assigned as a checkpoint. Up to 30 of these checkpoints can then be placed either in a point-to-point or closed-circuit configuration to create your own race.
Ok...besides the game looking pretty cool (love stuff like this and Motorstorm)...
the fact that they used a song from one of my favorite artist
"UNKLE Ft. Ian Astbury - Burn My Shadow"
for the trailer...
I WILL be buying this.
It has been a long time since I cared about racing games, I hope the expansive race thing works. The size of the games "tracks" is the big selling point. Fingers crossed.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

I like it.
I loved the mountain run from SSX3
I think I'm getting realyl excited about Fuel. If i can spend a half hour travellign across a unique zone, I think I'll be really very happy.
