Celebrating today's 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., Nintendo has released the first images of Super Mario Collection for Wii. A reproduction of the Super Famicom Super Mario Collection (released in the US as Super Mario All-Stars), this collector's box only available in Japan comes with a booklet featuring never-before-seen artwork from the series and a soundtrack CD and releases October 21st.
It's hard for me to get excited about a thing which I never expect to get when it's really something I already bought over a decade ago.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
As it's only 2500 yen, I'm going to buy this for sure!
The Virtual Console games are just the NES games, no updated graphics.
VC All Stars and SMW2, Nintendo! Jeez. It's like they're purposely just waiting for Christmas to release a good VC game again.
...Foreboding...
Well he certainly hasn't just been kidnapping her all these years for the fun of it.
This is silly; to think we were naive enough to think NSMB style updates for each individual game.
*sigh* I expected better of Nintendo. If they're going to release cheap and quick ports, can't I have a Metroid collection for DS?
They managed to fit it onto the mario collection for the snes but years latter not the one for the wii?
Imo this game is missing world 1 AND 2 as well as a couple other classic historical mario games like the original arcade donkey kongs and the original arcade mario bros all of which are really important in marios history!
THEN it would be a reall classic historical collection of mario not just a snes game on a wii disc!
Idk about that, your saying if they put all stars on the VC they would split it up into 3 different games?
I can't see Ninty doing that, if this was on the VC it would most likely be the standard snes price 800 pts because thats all its really worth to be honest.
The games aren't the actual draw here.
The packed-in carts were more rare, but CHEAPER than the Mario All-Stars stand-alone carts when Funcoland had them...Super Mario All-Stars was $24.99, but the All-Stars + World carts were only $14.99...packed-in games are always cheaper since everyone trades them in. SO glad I snagged that back in the day...
