Ghostbusters The Video Game, is expected to ship fall 2008.
"Sierra Entertainment is extremely excited to not only deliver fans, old and new, this next chapter in the Ghostbusters universe, but to allow them inside the universe for the first time," said Martin Tremblay, president, Worldwide Studios for Sierra Entertainment. "Our collaboration alongside Terminal Reality and Red Fly Studios also includes working closely with the team at Sony Pictures Consumer Products. Together we will create the ultimate Ghostbusters experience, full of the characters, ghosts and other paranormal creatures so many have come to adore over the years."
"Ghostbusters is one of Sony Picture's most valued film franchises," said Mark Caplan, vice president, Hardlines for Sony Pictures Consumer Products. "In setting out to develop a game, our criterion was to find a game company who was interested in keeping true to the Ghostbusters world that talent and filmmakers had originally created. The team at Sierra Entertainment took the time to prove to us they had what it takes. From the moment we green-lit the game, we have certainly seen a lot of passion and commitment coming from Sierra Entertainment and both development teams. Fans are going to be impressed with the game's ability to deliver a very authentic Ghostbusters experience, as well as its capacity to blow out the Ghostbusters universe to new heights."
Like the films before it, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis will return to scribe the script and event-driven storyline for the video game that will lead the player through the trials and tribulations of the world's leading paranormal ghost busting team. Ghostbusters The Video Game will create a totally unique experience and gameplay environment that authentically recreates the whimsical time period of the film, expanding the lore and supernatural events that seemingly plague New York City.

That looks awesome. :D
Luigi's Mansion FTW!
pure awesome.
marshmallow man. cant go wrong with that.
Looking at it again, I think this is the perfect game for the SIXAXIS controller when you're trying to capture the ghosts. Kind of like how Folklore is more enjoyable with the pull mechanic.
TUG HARDER!
Why is Slimer a bad guy? WTF?
Looks pretty awesome, but for some reason I could see this game going one way or the other. It'll be essential that they evoke the same sort of comedic atmosphere from the Ghostbusters movies. Also, more Bill Murray plz.
Stay Puft
Topher, I was thinking the same thing. Ecto Cooler was the jam!
@ Topher Cantler
Slimer was sort of a "bad guy" in the Ghostbusters movie. He wasn't their friend like he was in the cartoon. This game looks like it's either based off of the original Ghostbusters movie and they did go after Slimer in the movie in a hotel just like the one shown in the gameplay footage.
The game looks pretty awesome though, brings back a lot of good memories, heh. I loved Ghostbusters growing up.
Omg. Omg. Omg. That looks TOO GOOD!
DAMNIT TOPHER! WHY'D YOU HAVE TO BRING UP ECTO COOLER AGAIN?! :(
I want some.
This looks EPIC!!!
//wipes tear from eye
Ernie Hudson... its beautiful... Just wouldn't be the same without Winston.
Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES"!
Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson, back again for the first time in more than 20 years.
Ghostbusters 2 wasn't more than 20 years ago, or did I just get drunk and forget the date?
this looks badass. I wonder if it's gonna be sandbox like that zootfly video suggested
We've been going about this all wrong! This Mr. Stay Puft's okay. He's a sailor, he's in New York... We get this guy laid, we won't have any trouble.
I'm so hard for this.
Hi-C ecto coolers are still around but now they're called something else.
They still have the orange-y box though, so they should be easy to locate.
darkne55: You are correct, it came out in 1989.
Do Want!
SPOOOOOOGE is the only sound you'll hear from me, and I wasn't saying it.
Oh Gawd!!! I thought that this game was a Wii exclusive. That means that the Wii versions is probably gonna be a PS2 port and thus suck in both gameplay and how it looks on an HDTV.
OMG!!! *drools* I want this soooo bad! I was such a big Ghostbusters fan as a kid!!
Wow, that's looking a lot better than the average licensed game.
Physics look nice, I have been waiting for a good Ghostbusters game for awhile.
It looks fucking awesome. I'm a little wary because of who's developing it, but I'm hopeful because all of the big actors and writers are heavily involved. Well, aside from Sigourney Weaver, that bitch.
i've seen footage and it's STILL unbelievable. here's to hoping everything comes together for a great game.
The ecto levels on my pants are rising. Bring egon cause there is something wrong with them.
The game looks awosome, i was more impresed by the previus trailer by zootfly that had this Gears of Warish look.
But still looks good.
I donīt have sound on my computer work, but did they stayed with the voice that says: Do not cross beams?
So I guess the Wii version will be a PS2 port with wagggle. Cheap lazy fuckers.
This game looks awesome. I was totally expecting something terrible when I heard about it.
Looks interesting...hope the voice acting doesn't suck.
Looks interesting...hope the voice acting doesn't suck.
glee
DAMN, C'MON SUKKA, DIS MY KINDA SHIT!!
2008 game of the year? Maybe so.
The game looks amazing graphically. I just hope it doesn't get too repetitive. From that footage, it seems that you're using the same methods a bit too often.
Here's hoping that it turns out awesome.
*puts up cup Carpi Sun juice pouch*
(I got a free box from my neighbor.
:)
i totally heart that building rooftops footage.
Dont cross the beams!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just came.
Awesome! I hope the other guys are unlockables.
I never knew the Sierra office was in Reading. I'm there every day and I've never seen it. Maybe it's hidden away, or a secret underground base.
i cant wait a year for this
Wow i'm surprised how good that looks
Cant believe these ared only early game play vids, things are shapin up nicely
That makes me so giddy. BioShock + nostalgia + Bill Murray + Slimer = Ghostbusters: The Game, I can haz plz? Or something. I don't know. I really hope this doesn't suck. The footage is encouraging, but I just hope it has some personality.
I will buy as many copies as I have to so that I can ensure this game is a commercial success!
That looks amazing, it's a definite pre-order for me!
G4 quite possible has the absolute worst streaming video that I can image. I can go to gametrailers and stream an HD trailers faster than this trailer. It took me about 3 minutes of waiting for me to be able to watch the video.
Can we avoid G4 embeds from now on? They seriously really suck balls.
Despite the fact that these were mostly scenes lifted straight from the movie (please let there be an original story to this and not just be a direct movie-to-game translation), that looked pretty cool.
Also, for those wondering about Slimer, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man himself was a good guy in the cartoon as well.
Says Wikipedia:
The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man also appears in the animated series The Real Ghostbusters. In the cartoon series, the Ghostbusters used the residual molten marshmallow to create their own Stay Puft Man. They charge it with positive kinetic energy in order to make him good, and they keep him in the Containment Unit because he is too big to fit in the firehouse. Mr. Stay Puft soon became an ally to the team, helping the Ghostbusters defeat enemies too powerful to fight on their own. The character was voiced by John Stocker, and later by Frank Welker.
The only episode I remember is the one where they sent Slimer into the containment unit to bring out the big guy to kick some other ghost's ass, a giant praying mantis to be exact, but there I'm pretty sure he was released in others as well.
@Namelessted
I agree 100%. I seriously had enough time to get up and microwave some hotdogs and come back and it still hadn't finished loading.
Well I know what *I* DO WANT next christmas for the Wii...
Let's show this prehistoric bitch how we do things downtown.
Nimble little minx isn't she?
AIM FOR THE FLAT-TOP!!
