Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Renegade Kid's Creative Director Jools Watsham has decided to reveal the first footage of their upcoming Nintendo DS game, Moon, via a web cam. And then posting the video up on YouTube. Yes, we're talking about footage of a Nintendo DS game taken with a web cam.

Hey, it's not the best way to make a first impression, but it works. Renegade Kids' impressive 3D engine (which powered last year's Dementium) is rendering some pretty nifty space environments, and there's even a tease of a vehicle towards the end of the video.

The video was filmed for Jool's Moon blog over at IGN, which I only mention as not to anger the Internet gods (the video was posted on YouTube with no watermark). Hilariously, there's also about a minute worth of overt pimping for Dementium before anything starts, so you be sure to stick with it.

I missed Dementium, but seeing video like this makes me want to go back and check it out. That engine looks pretty impressive.

Dementium was a very impressive tech demo to me. It had its flaws but it just showed that the DS actually has potential for 3d games if given the proper engine.

@rbrooks
"fuckign"? intentional or not, I lolled so hard.

I really hope the game and engine prove to be successful; so far, Metroid Prime Hunters and Phantom Hourglass are the only games I can name off the top of my head that really push the system graphically. I guess Mario Kart and Trace Memory look good.

Pretty good. Just, why, oh why do developers stick to atmospheres that don't offer much in color schemes? Moon == blue... and lots of it!

See Epic and Bioware, this is what's capable, even when you are working within the limits of a console.

3D games were always possible on DS, it just that no one really bothered, assuming we all wanted just 2D stuff, how wrong they were.

I'll be buying this game, it looks awesome.

Jeez, Nintendo really need to get these guys at work on a Wii game. Just imagine what they could do then.

Dementium was incredible for the DS. Really looking forward to Moon to. Dementium isn't as easy to find anymore but if you can get it, do it.

Well it looks good but so did dementium.

I only want to know 2 things, is the melee/shooting system horrible?

Do I need to restart THE ENTIRE CHAPTER if I die?

If both are yes, then I will skip moon happily.

I've got Dementium in my Goozex request list right now. Moon looks great! Who knew the little handheld that could could do things like this?

That looks damn impressive for a DS title. My further interest in moon has been piqued.
