When I heard that MTV Multiplayer had posted the first footage of LEGO Rock Band today, I'll admit I rushed over to see it -- I've been curious for a while if the game was something I was actually going to want or not. After seeing the video, I think I've more or less decided I'm going to pass: not because it doesn't look good, but because it's just got more of a "for kids" feel than I even expected (and I already expected that). You can judge for yourself, though -- the video is after the break.

It's still due out this Holiday season, and at least you don't need to purchase any new instruments for it. I know when I bought LEGO Star Wars, I was all about the novelty factor. I wonder if that will make LEGO Rock Band sell, though? What's your two cents on this?

Is it bad I'm tempted to buy this just so I can play The Final Countdown?

It's Rock Band. It's Legos. It's Rock Band with Legos.

My thoughts:

1) I'll rent it just for the songs (if they're good)
2) I don't like any sounds BUT the song during actual gameplay
3) The legos for the frets are a nice touch
4) I love the little boob lines on the chick

Can't watch in UK, due to MTV's strict region rules. :(
Can someone post a Youtube version?

"Sorry, we're unable to offer this video to users in your region"

Might want to link a video that can actually be viewed by people outside of America.

Still looks better than GH5.

HAHAHA!!! OF COURSE the note blocks would be legos! That's awesome!

The simplest things amuse me.

I'm looking forward to see how the portable versions are gonna look. Will EA admit the use of the Vicarous Vision's Guitar Grip on the DS version, decide to create a device of their own or simply made the game like Rock Band Unplugged for the PSP? I think the DS is going to be able to handle the "blocky graphics".

Plus, there's a The Hives song in the game.

I got to admit it, tha was very impressive for me.

first i tought the difficulty was going to be waaaaaaaaaaaay to easy, but i just saw a pretty decent chart there.

And it's nice to see more focus on funny stories, i didn't make me laugh but, it put a smile on my face.

Wow, the bars are legos. This is awesome. I hope it has a song exporter, though, as I'd probably still prefer to play these in RB2 or RBeatles.

I dunno. The Lego blocks as notes are cute, but like Shadowii said, if this doesn't allow me to export songs to play on RB2 (or vice versa), then it's probably a no-go for me.

I still can't believe this game exists. Not that that's a bad thing!

I have to play music to help people accomplish their tasks? It's like Elite Beat Agents.

It would feel too weird for me to hear actual human voices coming out of Legos. If exporting is an option, I'll definitely either rent it or buy it on the cheap.

I like RockBand, but I'm not looking forward to this. There's something about this that feels... milky...

I'll buy it because I'm a music game whore.

Now will I enjoy it?...Probably.

A few thoughts when watching this.

A) I, too, was amused and impressed by the seemingly-simple fact that the note blocks are Legos. It's obvious in hindsight but a nice touch nonetheless.
B) Is that supposed to be Lego Jack White playing?
C) Good performance = crazy stuff happening onscreen --> I like it!
D) I'm hoping these will be exportable to RB2, but I'll probably buy it either way.

@Scary Womanizing Pig Mask:
No, I think the bad thing would be to not want to play Final Countdown in RB.

I think that it's a drag when spotting ruins a good pair of my panties. // This looks alright... needs more Radiohead to ensure I will buy a copy.

I just noticed that the regular notes you have to strum have bricks with two dots on them, and the ones that can be hammered-on or pulled-off have bricks with one dot on them. That was a clever move on their part.

Anyway, I'm not going to lie, I'm getting this less for "The Final Countdown" and more for "You Give Love A Bad Name." I just like that Bon Jovi song a lot more.

Anyone got a non-region locked mirror? I live in the UK and I am not allowed to view this for some reason.

At the bottom of my rhythm game "do want" list. I don't know the aesthetic just doesn't seem to do it for me.

Ehhh, I'm gonna pass. Maybe a rental, or a "borrow from a buddy", but it doesn't seem like something I'd willingly pay $60 for. Also, I totally called the LEGO note charts.

I want to see the instruments still, though.

Looks well made, even though I still don't see why it's being made. I'll buy it, with the hope for some sort of export option to unify it with the rest of my songs.

Crucify me if you will, but I want this more than The Beatles Rock Band.

Fuck it, I'd go so far to say that I'd give up ever owning TBRB if I could get my hands on this RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

Still, kinda cute I guess.
