First Final Fantasy XV in-game footage and game details

5:47 PM on 06.11.2013

We have the first gameplay footage and preliminary details for Square Enix's upcoming next-gen RPG, Final Fantasy XV. If you're just catching up, here are the facts, Final Fantasy fans:

  • Final Fantasy Versus XIII is now Final Fantasy XV
  • Final Fantasy XV will come to both the PS4 and Xbox One
  • Crown Prince Noctis is the protagonist
  • Noctis and his friends were cast out of their home, the Kingdom of Lucis
  • Final Fantasy XV features real-time combat
  • Date is TBD

And this footage! Wow. Look at Noctis, lead character from the newly announced Final Fantasy IV. What a badass. Crystals flying all around him. Climbing walls with swords. Beating enemies down while hanging from edges.  He's like a super cool monkey. Look closely and you'll see text mentioning something called Linkforms. And something called Warping.

Oh, and Levithan.

The Final Fantasy XV demo will be roughly two hours

Final Fantasy XV is looking pretty great overall. I'm really digging the outlandish bro-fest road trip vibe, and the visual style looks sharp as hell. To get a taste, Square Enix has a promotion where you'll be able to ...more

Hot new screens from Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD

Me? I'll take anything I can get from either game. I'm hype every single time something from the franchise comes down the line, so I guess I could be seen as somewhat unreliable when it comes to being fully critical. Oooh! Tw...more

Final Fantasy XV screenshots from TGS are...uh

You've seen the trailer so now see the screenshots Square Enix handed me this morning at Tokyo Game Show 2014 for Final Fantasy XV. They're having a tailgating party. Car-b-que. It's a nice car, I guess. But the screenshots look nice! That battle one does something for me. The upcoming Xbox One and PS4 title has this new media, but that's the only thing you'll get out of TGS 2014. Hang in there.more

Final Fantasy XV 'far into development,' 'high priority'

Final Fantasy VII PS4 will cost more than the recent PC port

Last weekend, Square Enix screwed with its fans with too much pomp around announcing a PS4 release of the original Final Fantasy VII, seemingly a port of last year's PC release. You can get last year's PC release for $12 on Steam, but when Final Fantasy VII comes to PS4 in spring of 2015, it will be $16. I guess that's $4 for "system-exclusive features." The Share button, maybe? more
