First details emerge on BioShock for PS3

First details emerge on BioShock for PS3 photo
     PS3

For months we waited, hoped, speculated and gossiped about it, but finally it's 100 percent confirmed: BioShock on PS3. The big question since has been: Would you buy the game again if you already owned it for 360 or on PC, and if so, why?

Obviously, the game's chances of being purchased again by people who already own it in some form would be helped by additional content. Thanks to Gamesradar (Via EGM), we have some more info on that. It looks like the widescreen issues have been fixed, Vita-Chambers can be turned off, and all downloadable content from the 360 version will come with the PS3 version. Good stuff, but maybe not worth buying the game again, yes?

Well, there is also mention of a "bonus" in the PS3 version, but not even a hint was spilled as to what it might be. I've racked my brain, but I can't think of anything that would really thrill me that could be added (shy of a repainted version of the figure that was packed with the limited edition). Got any guesses?

[Thanks, Justin]

Maybe for the bonus, the Big Daddys talk with the voice of Bobcat Goldthweit (sp?).

Having it on the 360 I doubt I would buy it again however I remember Ken Levine saying that he was unhappy with the ending of Bioshock so if they redid the whole ending I maybe persuaded to invest in the PS3 version

I already got the one on the 360, but if the bonus is good enough. I'll probably get it again. But only after the price goes down. I'm not paying $60 bucks for it again.

Unless it's a totally different collectors edition...

Jeez.

One more reason to kick myself for asking for a 360 instead of a PS3 for Christmas. All of the games I own/want can either be played on my bitchin' computer or on other consoles. And my 360 is starting to die already. /sadface

*Jumps for joy* I like the turn off the vita-chambers option, I've always heard how easy they make the game, now maybe there will be a challenge when i play it.

Perhaps some extra missions through the eyes of another character showing another side of the story (such as the Ada Wong side missions in Resident Evil 4)?

That might be enough to interest me to purchase, although probably not at full price.

I heard something about a third Big Daddy type being added.

Damn monosylabik, you beat me to it. I actually really think it might be a better ending. Ken Levine did mention that he didn't put much effort into it since he didn't think the story would resonate so much with the audience. Here's his second chance. Make it happen, Ken!

As I said before, I came to the decision that I will buy it again just so I can play it on my home theater (I had the PC version). Playing it on a nicer, 4x bigger, quality screen that is HD with real surround sound is incentive enough for me. Plus, I only played it through one time - so I'm saving that "other ending" for my PS3 playthrough.

Since they are working with the bigger bluray disks, maybe they could add an extra level in there? Although I think a third ending might be easier. New plasmids. maybe a new weapon. Plus I'm sure they could make it look better too.

You could turn off vita chambers on the PC version (which I did), so that wasn't anything new.

Hmmm... that's all I can think of at the moment.

I'm hoping that Levine makes this version a "Director's cut" with an ending that fits better with the overall quality of the game. I'm not holding my breath however. Levine is probably working on other projects and this will just be a port job that he has nothing to do with.

It would be nice if they gave the game more levels to explore, or something radical like multiplayer.

I'm getting a PS3 soon, and I'm considering selling all my third-party 360 games and rebuy them for the PS3. So its great if Bioshock comes out.
Playing on the 360 honestly makes me a bit anxious, because it feels like I'm driving a noisy unstable car that could collapse any second - wich is why I left PC gaming to begin with.
With a PS3 I can get that good old "console feeling" back again.

I don’t care what it is, because as someone who only owns a PS3 and hasn’t been able to play this game yet, I’m buying this on launch day (assuming I have the money).

As long as it runs as good as the 360 version then great. 360 version did have some texture pop and the Unreal Physics are twitchy (maybe a more updated engine?). The reality will more likely be a big install, jaggier AA and frame rate, and a few more rooms etc. 3rd Party developer is rarely a good thing unfortunately.
