First bit of Mass Effect 2 comic appears photo

The word on the street is that Mass Effect 2 kicks off on a mysterious note with Commander Shepard gone missing. But there’s no need to worry about the odd plot thread -- there’s a comic book to explain it. As previously announced, Dark Horse Comics and Mac Walters are getting together to make a visual baby that should explain what the galaxy’s protagonist is up to post-missing status. Due out in early January, the first six pages of this comic, dubbed Mass Effect: Redemption, are available right now via Comic Book Resources.

The pages star Dr. Liara T’sonia, a person who apparently has some pressing business to take care of and doesn’t mind whipping out the biotics to get it done. Poor, poor evil aliens.

Reading this makes us really want ME2 in our hands, but that’s not going to happen for a good bit (written gloomily). The follow-up RPG is slated for a 2010 release, meaning we'll be talking about the periphery stuff for at least a few more months.

"Are script-prompts meant to go into speech-bubbles?" (sarcastic, slight-grin).

@hjd uk

Uh ever consider that race says speech direction in Mass Effect 1? (shit-eating grin)

I loved that species. They lacked the capability for vocal inflection so they had to explain the tone of everything they said.

(frank admission) I am not entirely sure that extra swag will make the game more desirable. (with rising interest) But the universe is indeed interesting.

(Melancholy) I hope the stroy isn't bullshit like the Doom comic. (Truthful Interest) I hope the rumor that ME2 coming out Jan of 2010 is real.

(surprised realization)Liara really seems to be acting more badass than she appeared to be in the first one. (reminiscing) She always seemed like such a good girl in the first one. (Truthful Interest) I hope she is not only a party member again in Mass Effect 2, but she maintains the increased renegade streak in it too.

Bought.

@Palidi
Samez if she's in ME2 at all. I got the feeling that somewhere around the games climax (probably after the hawt human on alien sex) she did seem a bit more confident. It came a bit later than I wanted it to but hey. Anything's better than that raging pussy Kaidan. *diss high five!*

I was so happy to send Kaidan to his death. No spoiler warning.

Elkor are actually fully capable of speech inflection but the inflections are so subtle that other races can not detect them, so they plainly state their inflections to aid in communication.

@Xzyliac:

Well, according to the Wiki, characters will return in ME2 assuming they didn't die in ME1.

"Hudson stated in Game Informer magazine that characters from the previous game will come back, provided that they were not killed. So far Tali'Zorah nar Rayya[18], Liara T'Soni, Jeff "Joker" Moreau, Conrad Verner, Nassana Dantius and Urdnot Wrex have all been confirmed to be making a reappearance."-Mass Effect 2 Wiki

It's just a matter of how big their roles are as I'm pretty sure it's been said that not all of them will not be party members again.

Here's hoping that the Quarian party member in the trailers so far is Tali, and that Liara is also a party member too.

Does anyone else think a Mass Effect TV series could be even greater than the new Battlestar Galactica? That is if greedy network executives don't cancel it after 6 episodes to replace it with more junk "reality TV".
