Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

IGN brings us the first 11 plus minutes of Resident Evil: Degeneration. The first video starts off with a montage of events taking place after the Nuking of Raccoon City. We are then taken to the present as Claire has arrived at an airport. The zombies soon come strolling in after and are out for brains.

No doubt you'll notice how bad the animation looks. Considering what we can do with CG nowadays, it's pretty laughable watching this. But believe it or not, I actually love this style. Sure, it's weird and clunky, but it completely reminds me of the Resident Evil 2 cutscenes. I absolutely adore Resident Evil 2 and watching this movie totally reminds me of the game.

Resident Evil: Degeneration is set for a December 30 release and will come with plenty of fancy features. Be sure to hit the jump to watch the second part of this early preview.

Papa, the last 3 minutes are the "Redband" trailer off to the right of the video.

Heh, their joints seem stiff, maybe a more traditional anime would have been better..

Zombies on a plane.

Man, that's the best CG animation they could come up with?

The animation sure does look stiff, but that plane bit was pretty awesome.

Man the RE story sorta went right into the crapper, huh?

I mean in the first three, we have a giant bio-weapons corporation, Umbrella, toying with viruses that turn people into the undead, as well as hulking un-killable super monsters.

Then Code veronica got a little wacky with the twins and ant virus crazyness.

Then 4 went completely off the rails. Leon is a government agent? The presidents daughter is kidnapped by cultists who use parasites to turn people into zombie creatures? Seriously WTF?

Now the evil bad is some drug company called willpharma? really?....really? wow.

RE is now just another action series with a terrible story.

Left4Dead's characters look much more normal than the ones in this movie.

I just don't understand how they could have botched the facial animation this badly... I mean, the damn source engine is easier to look at than this. Disappointing.

The animation is pretty...meh.

But I'm really glad to see a more mature story told through 3D animation. I've been hoping to more movies like this from a purely artistic point of view.

Hopefully in the future some brilliant company (other than Square) will take this to the next level.
