Fire Emblem is my kind of game. It's also the first game I ever wrote about on Destructoid. And if Nintendo keeps remaking them I'll have constant reminders of my first day here from now on.
The new remake is called Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem - Hero of Light and Shadow, coming soon for the Nintendo DS in Japan. Siliconera says that this is a remake of the Japan-only Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem. The teaser trailer on the Nintendo official webpage won't do much for you (no gameplay imagery), but at least you can see some pretty story art.
Nintendo has a pretty decent back catalog of Fire Emblem games to draw upon for remakes. That's fine with me. Keep 'em coming!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
This is awesome though.
I got all the GBA/GC/Wii versions but the version they released on the DS isn't that easy to come by. Hopefully the next one will be more mainstream.
Now, all I need is a DS.

Problem solved in the DS remakes. There's a mid-battle save point on most maps, so you have a place to fall back on if you get a bad level up or you get hit by a BS critical.
Also, you really don't need perfect stats to clear the game. It's easy to freak out because your main character doesn't have maxed attack and speed, but you can always pay a few extra bucks to forge a better weapon.
DS needs some good RTS' now. Maybe Warlocked! 2....
I'm excited its Fire Emblem, love the series, just don't fuck it up this time IS. ;)
We never got to play the first 6 Fire Emblems. (Okay, first 5 now. ) Far as the West is concerned, this is brand new.
"OK, the enemy only has a 2% chance to hit me with its attack. I guess I should proceed a- GODDAMNMOTHERFUCKCRITICALHIT"
According to Wikipedia, only the first part of Mystery of the Emblem was a remake. The second part was a sequel. So presumably Intelligent Systems will remake/expand the second part, as they just remade the original FE as FE: Shadow Dragon.

Speaking of Shadow Dragon, I haven't been able to get into it for some reason, despite loving Path of Radiance on Gamecube.
