I personally don't like the plump 3d avatars in my JRPGs but game looks great otherwise. I wish more devs would go back to a Suikoden II art direction and make it high fidelity in HD. I'd buy the shit out of it.
As far as localizing why not start kick starting them? Basically just a pre purchase if you hit a # and can give early adopters some swag while they're at it. Win/win.

I really hope this gets brought over, even if they decide to do it as Final Fantasy Gaiden: Flying Fairy (this and 4 Warriors of Light are by the same team that ALSO did the FF3 remake)
I see in the trailer that the characters can hit rapidly in battle. Please tell me this is not the result of mashing the face buttons. 3DS buttons can't be easy to replace.
I was also thinking FF9. Color me interested. Not like, omg preorder now interested, but interested none the less. I'll keep an eye on this.
I say this as someone who loves anime: those "plump" character models look awful. Aside from that, the game's overall art design looks great (eg. setting, monsters, etc). I'm sure people would buy it in droves if it got localized, though.

Actually, this is being made by the guys who made 3D Dot Game Heroes, Silicon Studio. Matrix Software was behind FF3 DS, FF4 DS and 4 Heroes of Light.
Also, I don't have anything more to say about this game. I want this it, it looks gobsmackingly awesome, localise it and so on.

A big reason I've moved on to Western dev indies is because I know I'm gonna get those games, barring some sort of delay or cancellation. I'm done with anticipating Japanese games because there is NEVER a guarantee I'll get to play them in English.

This looks like the first Square game I've been interested in since FFX. Not surprisingly, the fact it reminds me of FF9 might have something to do with that.
@N7: Dude, KickPorter sounds like a great idea. You always hear from companies that they're concerned that there isn't enough interest in a game to justify the expense of porting it, so why not use the Kickstarter model to have people show just how interested they are, with the cash to back them up?

Dangit, every time I see a Bravely Default announcement on Destructoid's front page I think it's going to be a localization announcement. SIGH....
While it looks great, that is THE WORST game name I have ever heard of. That literally not only makes little to no sense is in no one way proper English. Lord help them if that is what they release in the US.
@arkane9 Sure, they're different studios but you should actually take a peek at the names. Three of these projects have been directed, designed, and/or produced by the same guy, Takashi Tokita. Three of these projects share the same lead artist, Akihiko Yoshida.
Overall direction and primary artist do a lot for the presentation of a game, so people are going to draw parallels between all of them.
