Seems like it's just a port. I'll keep playing Tri then, and wait for the NGP and it's inevitable Monster Hunter Game.
That's good news. I loved what I played of Tri from what I've read Portable 3rd is a better game with a better solo experience and the multi will inevitably be better on the ps3
I'm not sure if I'm two stubborn to get a PSP, I just can't justify paying $150 for only 4 games. Gotta love how Sony has no other ideas for games than to port older ones. Whatever, at least they're porting something great.

Tri was my 1st foray into the Monster Hunter universe. I'll be capcom's bitch if they bring portable 3 to the 3ds.

Perhaps you should wait for some more details before making such a statement. And getting past your "tripe" comment, the PS3 is a Japanese system. Of couse its going to get a lot of them.

I think it's an interesting move. Being able to play a game on the go, and continue it with upgraded graphics on the big screen when you get home, sounds like a winner to me. I would love to see this implemented for Final Fantasy Type 0. It'll never happen, but freaking awesome would that be!?!

I hope we get this here, I LOVE Monster Hunter, but after playing Tri there is no way in hell I'm going back to using The Claw.
I don't really accept these PORTABLE GAMES being ported to HOME CONSOLES, but Gameononicon summed up my words.
This port will definitely be welcome. I've been playing through Monster Hunter Tri (Wii) and IMO it feels severely anemic compared to MH Unite. I'm missing my felyne hunters from Unite...and there are no dancing felyne chefs to prepare stat-boosting meals :(
I just hope it means Portable 3rd in the West. And it would be cool if the PS3 version had proper online capability, Adhoc party does not work in my case :/
wow, this keeps getting sadder. so basically instead of making new games sony will flood ps3 with half assed ps2, wii and now psp ports? is there any reason to own ps3 aside from the ability to give your own money via credit card to charity foundation called "Hackers", usually unknowingly.
seriously aside from Starkhawk Sony didn't announce a single game since what 2009 when Naughty Dog announced works on Uncharted 3? there's what? 5-6 actual exclusive titles coming to ps3 in the next 2-3 years.

Sony should drop this bad habit they're forming before they get too carried away. They can't sell HGPs if they end up making console-minded gamers expect ports to the PS3.
Nintendo remaking Zelda OOT 3D makes sense because OOT is a 14 year-old game and they're not going to undercut N64 sales for doing it. It had its time on Wii VC as well, that time has passed.

Yay! Another crappy Monster Hunter game that is literally less interesting than watching paint dry is going to be on another system! Hooray! Really, I don't get the appeal at all. Tried one of the PSP ones. Tried the Wii one. There's just nothing going on there at all. MAYBE if the combat was fun it'd make up for the total lack of narrative or REASON to hunt. But the combat is about as far from fun as you can get.

I'm not really sure why they would do this when they already stated they would bring over HD-esque PSP games for the NGP. Maybe this could tie in with their cloud gaming scheme? Actually, that makes a lot of sense. That could work.
I'm in the same boat as tahmidk, allow me to play Peace Walker on my PS3, and I'm a happy man. LOVE that game.

Im exited about this now, only ever played monster hunter 1 on ps2 but i pourd hours into it, Ill most likely get this, ive never experienced its massive online community and modes.

this better come to the US...i wet my palate with tri and i very much want another console monster hunter...i personally dont care if its a port of a portable version as it would be new to me, but i can see why die hard MH fans would be less than thrilled...
I don't know why so many people are bashing this port. I don't think you guys realize what a second analog means when you play Monster Hunter.

This is cool. I have no use for Monster Hunter as God Eater Burst looks more to be my jam, so if they can re-release that and maybe the Persona games (maybe, hopefully), Sony would have finally taken one step forward...and then another step forward!
