Final Fight: Double Impact priced and dated photo

Capcom sent over word as to when their next retro release will be making its way to consoles. Final Fight: Double Impact, a pairing of classic beat-em ups Final Fight and Magic Sword, will be available to purchase April 14th on Xbox Live for 800 MS points and April 15th on PlayStation Network for $9.99.

Both games come with a variety of visual modes to play in, including one which bows out the screen like a classic CRT monitor in a real cabinet and adds all the scanlines and distortion inherent to the original arcade experience. It appears to be a damn good package, based on what we were shown January at CES.

Final Fight is all well and good but, seriously, I can't express how much of a value ten bucks is for Magic Sword. I've easily spent a hundred dollars in quarters on that game over the course of the last fifteen years, so this is going to save me a ton. If you have any love for side-scrolling or close quarters combat, this should be a must-buy.

If the netcode is halfway decent, I'll be all over this.

Love Final Fight, not sure about paying $10 for it but if Magic Sword is as good as everyone says then I might just bite.

It's an odd pairing. Why not have a Final Fight collection with the two Snes sequels and Magic Sword bundled with Capcoms 2 D&D arcade beat-em-ups?

Two definite Capcom classics, which is why both have been in Capcom Classics Collection (Magic Sword on Remixed and Volume 2 & Final Fight on Remixed and Volume 1). My friend and I would plop down tons in quarters in Magic Sword. It's kind of like an even older Capcom title, Black Tiger.

However, I would love to see a Final Fight Collection. There have been so many versions that I think it deserves a compilation. Maybe even a Hyper version where they combine the best of all the versions into one title. There's the arcade version, the four SNES ones (gimped FF 1, FF Guy, FF2, FF3), FF One for the GBA, FF CD for the Sega CD, FF Revenge for the Saturn, the sub-par FF: Streetwise. Hop to it, Capcom.

I have played Final Fight so much, that I was honestly thinking of skipping this.... but the chance to play Magic Sword with my friends online with minimal lag? Awesome!

I think there was a report a while ago that they are using GGPO for the netcode on this game, which means it will be really smooth if it's true.

Holy shit, I'm so glad they resisted the urge to put this at $15. Love you, Capcom. I'm all over this. Between this, Mega Man 10, and Super Street Fighter IV, I'm going to be a very happy man in the next month.

Nicojay2, on a recent Giant Bombcast episode from GDC, Capcom reps said that Final Fight was there to draw in the crowds with a big name. They added Magic Sword as a bonus because they personally loved the game and wanted more people to play it.
