Like a television event? I'm not sure, but that's what a script from an upcoming unnamed event makes it sound like.
Los Angeles based commercial ad agency Liz Paulson Casting is looking for someone to do some kind of presentation that will reveal the U.S. Final Fantasy XIII release date. Siliconera has a bit of the script from the casting call. In it, we see that developer commentary will be presented, followed by new game footage and imagery. After that, "camera pans back to reveal release date."
Of course, it does not give the release date. I'm hoping for something soon, and if they're casting for this announcement, that means that they have something set. I hope it comes before all the spoilers get out.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I am so with you there Dale. I'm thinking about completely shutting down all of my unnecessary internet activity (meaning that I more or less limit myself to the Destructoid front page in terms of games related websites) in the hopes that I can go into Final Fantasy XIII as unspoiled as possible. I know it seems extreme but just for once I'd like to go into a big, epic RPG like FFXIII with very little spoiled for me.
The more I see of this game, the more I hate it. The battles look great, don't get me wrong, but the characters, the setting, and the unforgivably cheesy english voice work, not to mention the abundance of over-the-top melodrama, turns this whole stinking pile into my own personal equivalent of kryptonite. It looks like an extension of 10, and 10 was so horribly corny that I...ugh...I can't even talk about it anymore...just make the next one more like 12 Squeenix, kay? How can anyone watch these trailers and actually be excited for the story?
I guess it's just a matter of perception. From what I've seen, XIII reminds me much more of VIII (which I loved), than X.
I agree with you about XII, it was wonderful. Probably my fourth or fifth favorite game in the series.
Just my opinion though; I can understand why some people like it. It's just a love it or hate it kind of game.
i'd kill you for myself then i'd kill myself for you.
It sounds like you're describing every 3D FF ever... and I wouldn't have it any other way.
To be honest I never played an FF for the plot so much as I play them just to indulge in that universe. Which may be why I could never enjoy 2D FF titles.
