Final Fantasy XIII to come with an FFXIV beta code? photo

It seems that we were too mesmerized by Final Fantasy XIII's extra-chunky Chocobos to notice, but eagle eyes over at Gigazine spotted an interesting announcement lurking at the bottom of the same magazine's preview.

Once deciphered, the moon runes revealed that first-run copies of Final Fantasy XIII would come with a so-called "Campaign Code" for Final Fantasy XIV, which is the next MMORPG installment in the franchise, announced way back at E3 for the PS3 and PC.

I'm definitely hoping that "Campaign Code" is an alternative name for "Beta Key," because in my search for a header image for this post I officially became more excited for Final Fantasy XIV than for XIII. Why? That header image is from the official site, which follows "a day in the life of Leeroy," as a method for explaining the game's gear-based character system, and perhaps to reference a certain internet phenomenon.

Don't you want to become a Leeroy of all trades, too?

One more reason to get this on the PS3.

Any Leeroy reference is a good reference. Pity I'm trying to stay away from MMOs altogether.

I played WoW back when that video surfaced...holy shit, good times. Of course, you could never get anything done when everybody in your party wanted to try Leeroy'ing...but it was worth it.

I laughed really hard at that header though, pretty awesome.

We'll see. It would be badass if it did, though.

Campaign Code does not mean Beta Key, and should not as of yet be interpreted as such. FFXI already uses the term Campaign Code, which is defined in the FFXI Term Dictionary as "campaign code:" "a service where a selected character can receive a limited in-game item using a code included with other merchandise the player buys." So it should be assumed that it will be a code either for an in-game item or an in-game event.

Could be proven wrong later, but that's what it's already been defined as.

Do i really want to play FF XIV when ive put so much time into XI and will see no benefit from losing all my stuff besides some prettier graphics?

If we wait long enough, maybe Square Enix would just pack the whole fricking thing with FFXIII.

Why do I get the feeling that Square said "you know what made WoW big? Leeroy Jenkins"

Now they'll go and put the name Leeroy all around to make you think he'll pop up every where and talk about chicken, thus making us want to buy Squares stuff

good game Square, good game.
