Final Fantasy XIII screenshots: Blah blah blah photo

With all the Final Fantasy XIII release date news floating around the Internet today, it would be criminal not to have a teasing selection of new screenshots to post. Luckily, our bases are covered and a small smattering of new images have made their way online.

I am glad that the release date is imminent. I got sick of waiting for this and was incredibly burned out on any news, but as we edge nearer to a Western release, I'm starting to perk up a little more. Hopefully the half-decade of development and hype is worth it.

The time between Final Fantasy X to XII is longer than XII to XIII. That is, I'm not counting X-2 or XI as anything but side stories and not single player RPGs. It's only been 3 years since XII and XIII had to totally restart development due to them switching engines (and building that engine). I'd say it's just fine.

You just have to be awesome like me and ignore nearly everything about the game aside from some screenshots every now and then. I'm not going to know anything about how the game plays, how skills are learned or even who's in the party aside from the first few characters they showed until I actually play the game. I'm going to enjoy it a lot more than most people I think.

Hopefully the half-decade of development and hype is worth it. <- this answer to this question is almost invariably no.

I know this a classic textbook no-no thing to say but I just want this to be over with so the wait for some serious Kingdom Hearts can begin.

Go ahead. Hate me.

@Xzyliac - I too am eagerly (and impatiently) awaiting Kingdom Hearts III. Actually even more so than FF XIII. But hey, first things first.

I'm hyped for this game, but I know I shouldn't be. I haven't enjoyed a Square Enix game since TWEWY, and they only published that...

After the trainwreck known as FF12, I hope the battle system in this game redeems the series.

@ Electrium

the battle system in XII was fine. It took much more strategy. My problem with XII was the story. They should've stuck to the original plan and gave the protagonist spotlight to Basch instead of that punkass bitch Vaan.

Balthier was the coolest. He's pretty much the protagonist.

Basch(and Ashe) was the protagonist, what the fuck did Vaan ever do or say for most of the game? He was one of the least important characters in the game. He's more of a representation of the player(being dropped into this complicated, changing, vast, world of adults and politics) than a true protagonist.

Yeah, Vaan is pretty obviously not important in XII. Now, in Revenant Wings, he and Penelo are clearly center stage and get a nice bit of characterization. That game really is underappreciated I think.

I still have a sour taste in my mouth from learning that I need to purchase the US and JP versions in order to play both localizations after the whole removal for 360's sake.

Knowing my luck they'll announce it was opted to include it last minute after I'm already playing the JP version.

Oh well, I'm not gonna hold it against 360 owners though, I'm happy that it will at least hit a wider market and that those who can't afford a ps3 investment atm will still be able to play it.

IGN ruined this game for me. Every time I see the clown in the trench coat all I can think is, "Hey brodowski, hit me with some heat."

Dan CiTi: I'm pretty sure Vaan says, "I had a good feeling" in the middle of XII. That's more than nothing if you ask me.
