Final Fantasy XIII Limited Edition packshots for EU photo

Even though it wasn't announced until now, we were certain that the west would also be seeing a Limited Collector's Edition of Final Fantasy XIII. It's official for Europe, and we're waiting to hear more about North America's soon.

As I guessed before, the included soundtrack is not the full 4 discs, but a selection. The included "Original Sound Selection" was made by composer Masashi Hamauzu. A hardback book called The World of Final Fantasy XIII will also be included. On top of that, three collectible art prints depicting some of FFXIII's summons are packed in. Finally, a collectible decal featuring, or a sticker, will be included. All of this is packed in a presentation box.

No price was given, but this edition will be available at launch.

Pretty boring by CE standards. It doesn't even have a fancy case.

They could have done much, much better.

Being the FF / JRPG fan that I am, I'm surprised at how "meh" I feel about this CE. If the NA version is the same, I'll just stick with the vanilla version...

Not impressed with the sticker and I already have the full OST on pre-order but the art book and original Japanese box art are really calling to me. I may as well put myself further into financial debt and get the limited edition. Hopefully they will announce this for North America soon!

Hmmm...
I've pre-ordered it from www.game.co.uk for £59.99 but I, being an Xbox owner, want to know how many discs the xbox version requires.

Why haven't they announced a North American CE yet? >:(

There is really nothing special in this CE other than the soundtrack. You can find it elsewhere and for cheaper, but I guess it's neat.

In the UK, it's £59.99 at GAME.

pre-ordered from GAME

I like the outer box, the kind of simplicity all European FF box art is and should be.

Heroic poses sux

I disagree with those saying that there is nothing special about this. It comes in a flip-top packaging with traditional Final Fantasy cover art as well as a limited edition book of Final Fantasy XIII art and some summon art cards, as well as a special edition sampler of the soundtrack and the L'Cie decal. And for those of you who find this expensive, being a 14 year old with a low paying paper route, I can afford 1 game every 2 or so months and don't have any other disposable income to fund a limited edition soundtrack or a Lightning decal PS3 imported from Japan (no matter how much I want both of those things), so this is my way of showing how much I love the final fantasy series with my low income.

P.S. I personally LOVE the original white background with the Final Fantasy XIII logo
P.P.S. Rant over :-)

Vanilla for me, I'm not going to bother myself with this version since there is no full soundtrack or anything else worth my money.

agreed, full soundtrack or GTFO. PS all the stuff that came packaged in probably cost Squeenix like $5 to cover materials. The artists were paid beforehand to produce art for the game, so I doubt they got paid any extra for this stuff (as it is just repackaged art that squeenix already had the rights to.)

I guess this si their way of recouping the costs of making such an expensive game, which is understandable.

But I do feel sorry for all the suckers paying an extra 30-40 bucks for $5 worth of junk.

Full-OST or GTFO imo

Looks cool. If they're going to release an incomplete soundtrack with it, at least let them put something exclusive in the tracks! Oh, and it better not cost 150% of the vanilla one.
