At an event today in Tokyo, Square Enix has stated that it is planning an "international" release of Final Fantasy XIII sometime during the Spring of 2010, attempting to shorten the gap between the Japanese and Western releases as much as possible.
"In the past, it's taken a year or half a year to release our games abroad, but this time we are aiming for an international release this Spring," stated Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada.
The focus on an "international" release is important. Wada did not say "North American" like you'd expect, instead implying that America and Europe may get a simultaneous release. That would certainly be delightful, and a nice change of pace for Europe, a territory used to waiting months and months for Japanese videogames. Here's hoping that Squenix hits its Spring target, and that both NTSC and PAL users get the game at the same time.

PR speak is PR speak. Pissing off your longtime Sony fans is a bad idea.
We know for sure it changed the release date. And they reworked their engine from when they originally announced that so it was more of a multi-platform engine. There's no doubt that it was changed. The question is if the changes were really significant, which I doubt.
In other news, I'm WAY stoked I'm going to be playing this game spring. I'd better move my Xbox closer to me so I'll be able to swap discs without removing my butt from the couch. :P

Even if I find my own words within the tally of fanboy-fool all-stars, the realization might prove educational and serve as an embarrassing deterrent in the future. Maybe even a tag on some of the avatars labeling the poster a “soulless/lifeless fanboy lurking in granny’s basement” whose opinions should be taken with a grain of salt as they only reflect their personal bias. It would be fun, a way to rank members on an asshole meter! Hahaha! Do it Dtoid! The intertubes would love it!

Whaaaat?! I’m not telling on anyone, your panties are on way too tight. Why would you think that what I suggested would be telling on anyone anyway? Most profiles on Dtoid are anonymous to varying degrees (so relax before you liken this “suggestion” to quislings and Nazi Germany). Not to mention that outing stupidity is always great fun! I even admitted that it is possible that I could be on there myself….which would also be very funny.
Being far removed from grade school, I’m having trouble understanding your connecting this to taddling……oh I get it. Now with my clarification, you should better understand my point of view. I’m still not sure why you would disagree so strongly…methinks you protest far too much.
