Final Fantasy XIII gameplay vids for those that missed it photo

If you missed last night's epic live stream of the Final Fantasy XIII demo (and the hilarious chatroom fanboys that accompanied it), a selection of videos have made their way onto Youtube which shows off the whole thing in loving detail. The five videos show most of the demo, which details the turn based battle system, the awesome graphics and the rather swanky music.

Hit the jump for the full footage and do let us know what you think. I'm personally starting to get tentatively hyped for the game. When it was still a long way off, I couldn't care less, but the gameplay footage has finally made it more than some distant and far-flung future title. If the story is as energetic and pretty as this gameplay looks, the Final Fantasy series may be on great footing once more.

I wouldn't call the ones I saw fanboys -- at least, not of FF. They kept asking people for pics of b00bz and whatnot. And then there was a guy who kept spamming racial slurs to the chat, talking about how he hates n-words. Thank God the fucktard population is minuscule on Dtoid. Thanks Niero and gang for sheltering me from the unrelenting amount of douchebags on the Internet...

There's something nostalgic about that first enemy or boss right in the beginning of the game...

The gameplay is interesting. So it's like Active Time Battle except for the fact that EVERYONE attacks at their own time instead of waiting to attack one by one.

@Cronic Logic, yeah I was going to ask about the gameplay as soon as I saw everyone moving at the same time.

It looks really good as far as the graphics and gameplay goes, and the music is awesome too.

The black guy would use a gun. And it would be, in Final Fantasy bizzaro fashion, inherently weaker than whatever flimsy blades the flippy bitch uses.

Nice! They used that awesome music from the first trailer as the battle music, but its been tweaked a bit. Can't wait for this to hit a year from now.

Looks good. Still using the ATB system but looks like they might have taken a bit from XII battle system. Looks like positioning could be a bigger factor than the old ATB system.

Combat actually looks pretty interesting....dare I say "unique". I'm just worried there are a few too many epically dressed people in that world. It was like a massive cosplay battle.

It looks....interesting, at most. Though, no matter how you package a turn-based battle system, it's still a Turn Based Battle System. This looks like a "I'll have to get my hands on it before I can really get excited about it" type of thing.

Nice, we have another brawler in Snow. He reminds me of Zell from 8 (young, cocky brawler). If they are to have any Limit Breaks, or Double/Triple attacks, the possibilities are endless. Final Heaven FTW!

Nobuo Uematsu is working on most of the soundtrack, so expect the soundtrack to be epic.

Also, FF12 was a pure disappointment. In terms of story and characters, two major strengths in a Final Fantasy game.

I agree completely about FF12. I beat every Final Fantasy from 1-10 gleefully, and played FF11. I couldn't bring myself to complete more than 10 hours of 12, I just couldn't.

I'm so looking forward to this game.

The music is fantastic. The game? Until I get the demo itself (I really like the fight scenes in AC) by buying the AC Blu-ray, I'll reserve judgement.

This already eliminates my two biggest pet peeves with more JRPGS: Random battles and really crappy turn-based engines from the 1980s. When they mix it up, its cool like the audience/QTEs in Paper Mario 1/2, or Chrono Trigger's Action-Time Battle System. This feels a bit more like CT, which is my fave RPG ever, so this game is officially on my "Will be awesome" list. Too bad about the yearlong wait.

This reminds of the way FFX started, going straight ahead and having to break through a bunch of enemies.

Combat seems like a bit of XII with ATB. I would like to be able to control all the characters though. And, this whole guns doing minimal damage thing becomes more tough to swallow with a stronger focus on graphical realism. But, hey if it's fun.
