Although, to be honest, if they make it a more traditional Final Fantasy, e.g. Non-linear (at least not to the same point as FFXIII), a battle system that takes more than the AI being less retarded than... a retarded monkey, and... well that's about it really. I actually liked what I played of the story, before I got irritated at the battle system and quit playing.
that said, it did not deserve a sequel, so this FF XII-2 game seems unnecessary. But Square-Enix probably needs some money, and it's much easier to develop a sequel than start a new game. Now they have all the ground work already done, models, engine, etc. I hope this game will fix some of the bad stuff from XIII, and will not be a retail release of the stuff they cut from the game, or had planned for DLC.
That said, my guess is that this is going to hit before FF Versus XIII, Kingdom Hearts 3, and every other game I've been hearing rumors for forever but never seen evidence of. Probably so that they can make a bit more profit at less risk so they can actually fund those other games. FFXIV being a huge money sink to maintain and fix probably isn't helping them produce other games, either.
13 was alot better than you ADHD fuckwits would leave people to believe.
I didn't really like XIII and I especially didn't like the character Lightning (all she seems to do is mope and slap people about) but I will play this. I'm hoping they'll completely change the combat, like X-2 was to X, but regardless I'm willing to give them a chance. There was some enjoyment to be pulled from XIII; it was just nowhere near up to the standard of the company's previous work.
Versus is still a thing. It was shown a new Versus trailer (still without a date) at the Square Enix event.
Goddammit, Square Enix.
There's no hope for this one. It's just going to recycle the stuff cut from XIII with the same miserable combat and straight-line maps. At least it has Lightning...
Bandwagon hopping is a very "in" thing around here. One person hates it, all of a sudden everyone does without being able to form their own opinion.
Anti-bandwagon hopping is pretty "in" as well. A lot of people hate something, and suddenly a bunch of people decide to love it just to be different and cool.
See? I can negate the possibility of someone just having an opinion as well!
Also, keep the theme song.
Again, haven't read the fat kid's review. But from the sounds of things, I'm guessing it was a 4.5. I thought it was a 7.
Again, this is coming from a guy who's favorite FF is 12. Fuck ya'll. Balthier ftw.
Casually looking foward to this.
indisputable logic there.
I just can't resist FF games.
I didn't enjoy XIII because every battle felt like an ordeal. If they reduced the difficulty of regular enemies, let me have a bit of a wander and make some minigames I'd buy it.
It's too early to make a judgement :)

it has a somewhat classic medieval-magic touch...... i like that.... kinda
dot dot dot
will be looking forward to this for sure ^^
hopefully they bring back the voice actors from the previous game. Maaya Sakamoto FTW ^^
i wonder how many years has it been since it's ending? im expecting at least a year or 2
hopefully the customization and battle system is similar to X-2(being able to use multiple characters, tons of customization, extra missions, tons of mini games, being able to use airship and so)
will definitely looking forward to this(hope they learn alot right now)
Personally speaking, I love Final Fantasy XIII. It's a fine game with some great gameplay mechanics once the combat system opens up, and personally speaking I think it's a fresh take on the JRPG as a whole. I guess this does mean, however, that I'll have to finish it.
Ironically, the part where everyone else claims the game gets great (the open plains area which is not a corridor) is the place where I'm currently paused for lack of interest. However, I suppose I should go ahead and just finish the game, then.
I assume that the light-haired character in the logo is Lightning, so who would the dark-haired character be? Spoilers being what they are on the Internet these days, I'm pretty sure it can't be fang, so... New character, I guess? Whatever. I'm wondering if they're going to keep the gameplay relatively the same, expand on it and add classes (ala FFX-2), or go with something entirely different.
also what he said in the comments about anti bandwagon jumping is both hypocritical and just outright dumb as Jims is pretty much the only review that slammed the game, his really felt like it was trying to be different and was grasping at straws, if you didn't understand the story I got news for you bro, you're a moron, I didn't even touch the datalog. an 8.5 on metacritic aint bad and I'm sick of all of these people on the internet who are offended the entire world doesn't share their views, like shanruels said about "a game doing well commercially when it didn't deserve to", who the fuck are you to decide that it didnt' deserve to? obviously it did well and does deserve to, if something's that bad people will see it.
tldr people who dont' understand the difference between opinions and objective facts, that includes Jim
That said, Fang was pretty much the main reason why XIII was at all passable to me, and of course if this is a direct follow-up to XIII then that means there'll be no Fang in this one. I actually didn't mind Lightning - hell, she's a lot better than Tidus, Vaan and to be honest, Cloud - but she's no Fang.
Though I'll be happy to play a game without Vanille.
