Too bad they're so often purchased that publishers are essentially conditioned to do this. Bayonetta had not as speck of DLC, and more content than I have even unlocked, yet the masses didn't flock to the disc full of fan service found in that game. Not fair. =(
So there you have it folks -- just like Prince of Persia, if you really want to get the whole picture, you better buy this DLC. Or, you could wait for an inevitable Game of the Year edition.

I'm with you on this one, boys. DLC has become a complete joke, especially with these ridiculous pricetags.
Enjoyed the game for what it was but I'm not buying DLC for this. I'll just look on youtube to see the bits I didn't want to pay for.
To act like SQEX is the evil mastermind behind DLC is ridiculous. This is pretty much their first game with major DLC, and it came out in ... 2012. They held out from doing this for 7 years while everyone else ran rampant with it. They held out longer than anyone but Nintendo. It sure didn't earn them any good will from you fuckers either.
It's so damn frustrating. We're in a really bad recession, people have tight budgets to live on, but companies just keep charging for more, more, MORE. And after all the DLC has been released for the original game, they just come out with an Ultimate or GOTY version a year later with all the DLC already on it! (Or they can keep coming out with new DLC even after that like greedy Capcom did with Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, ugh.) It's making less and less sense to buy a game on its release date anymore. And I will NEVER pay for DLC.
@shinta - They handled DLC for FFXIII-2 poorly, They are not an evil mastermind, but this experiment of withholding the complete story puts FFXIII-2 right up there with SFXT, Amalur, ME3 and Saints Row the Third as being a crock of shit with DLC.

I don't remember prince of Persia having a GOTY edition. I also didn't mind paying for the DLC, but I did mind that after such a cliffhanger ubisoft dropped the franchise.

I bought a SQEX game last year, and I enjoyed it a lot. It was called Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Maybe you heard of it? Pretty sure it had DLC.

I just stopped playing Final Fantasy games..... its just easier and cheaper than messing around with DLC, why would I buy an incomplete game?

What I take issue with is Chris' opener saying they don't even remember what it's like to have extra content, which is bullshit. SQEX had no DLC this entire time when everyone trashed them and praised Bethesda and Bioware. What did people expect them to do?

No new Chrono sequels, shoddy-and-expensive mobile ports, no new Tactics games (although the PSP remake of Tactics Ogre was quite good), and just a complete shift away from everything that made Square and Enix, separately, awesome companies 15 years ago.

I think you guys misunderstand. It's just saying that the DLC has spoilers from the main game in it so you should finish that first. It's not saying it's "the true ending" or anything of the like. It's just showing you what happened during the events that we already knew occurred from the main game.
SE's handheld stuff is still good, I'll go for that. Theatrhythm has DLC and I have no grudge there as it comes with 70 songs by default. I'll pay for more if the packs are within reason.

Xenoblade craps all over the last couple FF games. It goes to show that JRPG's are still fun to play if they are done right.

Gogo was an awesome character in VI. It's a shame it had no story to speak of other than speculation about a possible link to another party character or two.

Why is everyone acting like square is the devil when it comes to DLC. Sure, the DLC they have released has been mostly crap (although the final 2 episodes sound quite good), and overpriced, but I've seen DLC dome much worse. It's not essential to the game.
I'd like to see it implemented better in the future, way better, but Square have been getting a lot of random hate. I think a lot of it was off the silly rumor the gigantic cliffhanger ending would be wrapped up in DLC (which as anyone who completed it would know, that ending was way too huge and game-changing that it could be summed up to a satisfactory level through DLC)
