I've already got it preordered from Amazon, so I guess I'll be getting Omega. I'm mainly curious about whether the difference in the cut-scene quality (which was the only part of the 360 version that suffered) between PS3 and 360 will be as drastic as it was in XIII. I didn't have a PS3 last time around so I get it on 360 by default, but if the video is going to be cruddy again on the 360 side, I might have to get it on PS3 this time around.

I just want a legit, unbiased review to see if Square learned from their mistakes or not. I remember seeing 8's and 9's from critics of Final Fantasy XIII on release day. I played it and personally think that "4/10" review score is completely fair.

I'd go for the book out of the three myself. Especially because I imagine the other two types of DLC will be available for purchase.
Also, I'm jealous that Tristix has a small locally-owned game shop. Those went extinct where I live a looooong time ago.

The preview coverage so far seems to indicate that Square's fixing a lot of the problems with the original for this game, but I am concerned by the whole multiple endings junk. They did this with X-2 as well and that game was impossible to 100% without using their stupid guide, given nonsense like unskippable conversations that contributed to the completion score.
Still don't think I'm going to be able to bring myself to preorder this one considering how dense this fall already is and the fact that I've yet to even finish XIII-1.

@MuddBstrd - "Unbiased" was definitely a poor choice of words. I'll completely admit that. But I just think that most reviewers didn't bring enough attention to the flaws of the game in my opinion.
If you like Final Fantasy XIII though, I'm not going to criticize. Play it. I just wish I read reviews from EDGE and Jim Sterling before purchasing that game. Lost 65 dollars because of it.

It would be nice if this game was good, but I suspect that it is unlikely that the tainted tree of XIII could yet bear good fruit. I guess many things are possible though..
XIII was the worst RPG I have ever played. I kept defending it because I felt really bad about being ripped off for 60 dollars and needed to rationalize what square-enix had to done to me by pretending that the game somehow got better once you reach Gran Pulse at the 30 hour mark, which it didn't.
How about Serah starts naked and we pay to put clothes on her? Because I would prefer that. I think giving people free clothes is wrong.
I don't do FF "sequels" (X-2 and now this). It goes against the old mindset square had in their earliest days. "How many times can one group of people save that world?". They stayed true to that throughout the 90's but have heavily started to pull back on that.
I'm also in the "I bought XIII based on my own love for the old games alone" camp and am still bitter about it. How can they make it up? Do something with the old franchises! And not on psp or vita but a console game with any of these names slapped on it; Vagrant, Chrono, Mana or Evermore. Failing that, a new Bushido Blade game would be wonderful.

This is how low Square has gone, huh? The first main FF (excluding FFXI and XIV) to get DLC....what happened to full Final Fantasy games that were complete once you've bought the game??!! Damn this Gen and it's crazy DLCs!!

I think the news here is that Square's finally getting FF on the DLC train.

Kinda do what they did with FF7 crisis core original and advent children...I would have preferred if they gave XIII-2 an actual name bit I'm guessing the prequel will be called FFXIII-0 I liked FFXIII but I would have liked it more if the whole came was open world instead of just the arch light steppe
