i can tell since your favorite FF game is IX, and they both share the same dev team (minus sakaguchi)
the game is full of the silly humor, exploration and difficulty of the older games. And the latest patch made the game even more appealing to new players.
just make sure to get some friends to play with you though. and get lots of spare time, because the game is drowning in content
I also don't understand why they wouldn't promote ff14 over 11.
I prefer to plug my ears and hope for a clean version when (if ever) it makes its way to the ps3.
I find myself agreeing with you more and more than I used to. I certainly hope they improve it, it's a shame that the game wasn't all it could have been from the start. I'm tiring of WoW and was kind of looking forward to something Final Fantasy related :)
@Chad Almasy: I hope so too. Despite the awful, rushed launch, they bought my goodwill with XI. In it's prime, it was a pretty awesome MMO - so they do know how to do that.
If this happens, I'm fucking buying a Vita. Just for this.
And that's unfortunate because the cold hard truth about FFXI right now:
- Starter cities are empty
- No one helps with Nation Rank, RoZ, CoP or TOA mercenary rank missions anymore.
- No one parties below level 40 anymore, and if you multiclass, that s lot of lonely grinding if you don't know the right people.
- FFXI is a multiclasser's game, play favorites with jobs and you will be shunned.
- For a portable version, voice chat would be an absolute must, but keyboard is a must for the PC, PS2 and 360 versions and you cannot play with others and hope to communicate with a software keyboard.
And then there's the inevitable monthly fees, a concept that the PS3 and 360 crowd just don't understand and are outwardly hostile toward because they seriously believe buying the game pays all the bills. For success to even be possible, PSV's version would have to be F2P.
And if FFXI went F2P for one platform in a multi-platform game, there would be a backlash from the hardcore community like you would not believe.
It would be in SE's best interest to keep this out of the multi-platform vision and keep it F2P with a Vita-based community.
Even with all that said, does Vita have the kind of storage to handle over 30 GB of install data FFXI would demand?
Why would they have to be separate?
Why would it have to be free to play?
Also it may bring new people that could level together, and create a new wave of people.
It would be an empty game if it was vita seperate, and also, they wouldnt do that because then people who already play it wouldnt buy it on vita to play with their characters on the vita. You seriously think they dont want people who play it on PC, or whatever to buy it again to play it on a portable also.
Also it takes like 6 gigs to install...
That is all.
They would be better off fixing XIV's netcode (and everything else in the game for that matter), get the PS3 version up to scratch and out then downscaling the PS3 version's assets to run on a Vita.
I played FFXI on my PS2 in 2003 on a 56k dialup connection. I can only hope so.
Oh and as far as FFXI goes, the last time I played it, it was nothing but anti-foreigner hate. Those Japanese sure hate anyone non-Japanese. So unless you are a weeboo, or Japanese, I'd steer clear. Though, as far as MMO's go, the game is pretty ass, even compared to the MMO's of yore(it is pretty old), so I wouldn't recommend anyone start with XI.
If they create a game with a full fledged story with the world of FF XI, I wouldn't mind buying up the Vita.
What PS2 games? FFXI isn't official yet so what PS2 games that are being ported to the platform?
