They would be wise to remake FF7. The game didn't age well at all, so remaking the game so it doesn't make your eyes bleed would be awesome. The game would easily sell millions.

You know, in the meantime they could drop their other PSone games onto PSN. Playing FF9 and Chrono Cross on my PSP would make me a happy camper.

I actually want to see a FF7 demake -- SNESify that mofo. Then put it on the DS, to enrage the Sony masses ;)

I'm somewhat serious. It'd be quicker to make than a current-gen remake and would be guaranteed to sell well. Get on it, Square.

Y'know, I'm fine w/ the port to the PSN. Yeah, I wish it looked more up to date and everything (and trust me, I would buy an HD remake first day), but its better than trying to play the original PS1 discs on my 1080p. So yeah, I can live with a PSN port. What I really want is a sequel to Chrono Cross. No, I don't want a remake of either Chrono game (imo 2d games hold up a lot better and Cross still looks pretty good), I want an honest to God sequel like they were planning and then canned several years ago.

If FFVII didn't age well, then I don't think we would be talking about it now and demanding a remake so adamantly, would we? If people can't enjoy the original, then I don't see much hope in people enjoying a remake which will inevitably be bashed for changing things around (because no matter how close to the original Square tries to make it, something things will change, some things will be left out, some things will be added).

On a side note, why does everyone hate on the graphics so much? The characters, the battle screen, and the overworld (everything in 3-D) were sub-par, yes. But for the other 70% of the game one gets to feast his or her eyes on the static backgrounds, which in my humble opinion are some of the best artwork in any videogame ever.

Everyone knows that the Final Fantasy VII Remake would sell like hot cakes. Final Fantasy VII is one of the most successful games of all time, so the Final Fantasy VII remake would be huge!

i don't want a remake, i want a sephiroth only story. a remake would negate the original, which is a masterpiece imo. i don't see anyone remaking the mona lisa, because it don't need to be.

If any game needs upscaled graphics, it's ff7. (I had to move my ps3 to my SD tv because playing it on my 1080p LCD hurt my eyes. Sooo bad.) But that's all that should be done.

However, it would be interesting to see if they would throw away the outdated concepts or change certain aspects of the game. For example, I'll call this the "dollhouse view". When your character enters a building, the ceiling or wall is see through. Would they keep this? or give the character a 3rd person, behind the back view. My point is, gamers today need immersion. They get pissed when they have to switch discs or wait through installs because it reminds them they're playing a game. And alot of aspects of ff7 detach you from the game.

Also, would they be able to keep some of the more mature content of the game nowadays? (Group Room at the Honeybee Inn ring a bell to anyone? ..Rofl) Also, some of the dialogue, can people really imagine it with voice acting? "I'll rip them off" "I'll chop them off" "I'll crush them". Not to mention, between Barret and Cid, if the game was a movie, it would easily be R-Rated just due to their language. What're they gonna do? Bleep them out? With the addition of modern voice acting, the dialogue will have to be changed.

People need to realize with a full remake, they won't be getting a true remake, they'll be getting a modernized, censored rendition of the original. Personally, I'd buy it and play it, but would probably be unfulfilled.

I take back what I said about censorship. I just saw videos of Heavy Rain for the first time... Still unsettled by the idea of a remake, though. I just want them to make what's there already look better.

Surely we can anticipate a series of extremely vague countdown pages that lead to other countdown pages, which link to a picture and a "coming in 5 years" announcement.

She should die, then after completing a bunch of tedious stuff, you get her back as a zombie, with all of her Limit Breaks changed to zombie attacks, complete with the gonk theme song.

I think Kitase has been paid to say "Just wait for it," since that's what he's been saying for the past two years. Silly Square, waiting twenty years for something is not good PR. You could have released it on PS2 during the ADvent Children stuff back in 2004-06 and everybody would have been happy.
