Final Fantasy Versus XIII won't be at TGS photo

Square Enix, despite showing off a new trailer at the Tokyo Game Show last year, will not be revealing anything to do with Final Fantasy Versus XIII at this year's show. The publisher is apparently breaking the habit of a lifetime and for once will only be focusing on games coming out over the next twelve months instead of ten billion years from now.

TGS attendees will be able to play Final Fantasy XIII, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep and Dissidia: Universal Training (an international version of Dissidia for Japan). However, games that aren't planned for the next year, despite being announced ages ago, won't be seen.

It's about time Square Enix focused on upcoming games rather than things that are years off. Perhaps if the company focused on only a handful of titles at a time, they'd come out much quicker. So, this all begs the question: When the Hell WILL Versus come out?

It better be that way because they're toiling away on the Chrono Trigger remake.

But then again, it's SqEnix we're talking about - nothing they do makes any sense anymore.

I still don't know what this game is about, or why it is any different then original flavor FFXIII (besides being a PS3 exclusive).
Someone should enlighten me. Or does ANYBODY know?

I think it's a smart move, why have 2 games from the same developer compete with each others hype? They will probably hype the shit out of Versus when FFXIII is out and done

@Shadowii:
Not much is known, else than the main guy being totally emo and stuff. But it's made from the same people who makes Kingdom Hearts, so it will be more action based game, and will have a more 'realistic' story, whatever that means.
Other than that, we don't know shit. It could be announced as a multiplatform game next week for all that we know. Everybody thought XIII was a PS3 exclusive until they dropped the bomb, so why not again?

I just hope Versus is more like Kingdom Hearts gameplay rather than a turn based game.

At this rate FFXIII: Versus will be vaporware and will meet the same fate that The Last Remnants PS3 version.

The Square Enix law states that the development time for a software project's milestone asymptotically reaches infinity as more milestones are achieved. For graphical proof, please simulate the tangent function on your calculator.

As long as they don't mess it up like they did with last few of their games I will be happy.

@Los255

KH:Birth By Sleep is pretty much KH3. But the guys who made KH are making this, which has a lot more potential anyway.

Anyway, I am really looking forward to this, it really sucks it isn't coming along. Lets just hope Final Fantasy 13 will come out in the first half of next year.

@Dan CiTi

I would disagree that Square would make a portable prequel to series, it's KH3. It would be a potential system seller if it were on the PS3 alone, and 358/2 is like an arc to the Organization XIII story (correct me if I'm wrong).

Birth by Sleep is a prequel to Kingdom Hearts 1 for PSP. They've said many times before that it's gonna be a while before we see anything KH3.
