Seriously. I never really had much interest in XIII proper...it always looked like it was trying way to hard. Versus looks like it may be going in the direction the series should have gone ages ago *coughkingdomheartscough*.

I'll play it, more than likely with a smile on my face, but it feels like a practice run for the dev team, a warm up lap, before they sit down and make KH3.

I'm not going to bash the director of X-2 and now 13-2, he was faced with an insurmountable challenge then, nothing could have been a good epilogue to FFX, not for me. I respect what he attempted to do, and some of the ideas, whether I liked the title or not. and I didn't, but that was more my personal affections the Final fantasy X in the way, then it actually being a bad game.

Which is where FF13 has the chance to shine, to so many people, can it really go downhill? it had its shortcomings, and problems, but Sazh stands out as one of the most emotionally real game characters in a while. And im still trying to figure out if Vanille and Fang are the first lesbian couple in a videogame.

I'll hold hope for Final fantasy 13-2, if because, It only has the capability to get better, and the director's ridiculous creativity warrants attention. But maybe i'd just rather sail into the unknown than the almost guaranteed entertainment that Versus offers.

Based on the expectations i had about it from what FF13 was i'm actually very interested, too bad i don't have a PS3, well, maybe by release date i'll have one.

I don't know what to think about Versus. It looks rather boring to me so far. Right now I am playing XIII and really loving the world and story. I'm starting to think XIII has the best world out of all the FF games I played. True be told I'm thinking XIII might be my favorite FF game.

for some reason when the video hit at mark 02:00 it kinda reminded me of Deus Ex HR which is no surprise since it uses the same crystal engine but a modified version of it.

lol at people hating on FFX-2, it's basically has the best gameplay in the entire series(full control of party, class based system, tons of extra missions, minigames, multiple pathroughs, multiple endings and so) so yeah fuck you for hating just because the theme is too girly for you.

im basically excited at all 3 games, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Type-0, im willing to give you another chance square ^^

If it reminds you of Kingdom Hearts, that's because it's directed by Tetsuya Nomura. This is what we get when he stops doing family friendly stuff, and I think this is going to be pretty good.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Like a lot of other people, I've been waiting to see something substantial about this title since 2007. It's kind of ridiculous that it's been in development this long and we still don't know anything about it but whatever. I'm definitely interested but, again, cautiously so.

I need a release date. I have a game informer issues which has a small articall on 13 and versus13 both have a 2008 release date lol.

First of all, those cutscenes look phenomenal. Best CG EVER. It makes FFXIII look like an anime. I've wanted Versus over Agito and XIII ever since all three were announced. The cutscenes look amazing, the gameplay looks like an improved version of KH, and the characters looks like what I've always wanted out of KH. More Final Fantasy and less Disney.

I'm exuberantly stoked. This time, I'm pretty confident that no matter what, I'm going to get every penny's worth out of this future purchase.

Versus... By Far, mucho far...

I can totally see the camera being shit and the combat being tedious, I really hope this doesn't end up being the case though. I really love the sleek mix of fantasy and realism.

Very impressed by this trailer. If this is good a implication to what the full game will be like, I'm sold.

Can't say about XIII-2 yet, though. Was not a big fan of XIII and the trailer gave us nothing but Lightning cos-playing and having beef with a new dude/really tall lady. Stay positive though, may be good.

What kinda bothers me is that there are 4 games with "Final Fantasy XIII" in its name now. Or is Agito officially Type-0 now? Maybe Versus should change its name too.

EDIT: It basically is going to play like KH. From the looks of it, the bottom left has the exact same command menu as KH, minus the attack command. Magic;Item;Summon;X Arts. I can't make out the bottom one properly. It's "EX Arts" or something Arts. Or a symbol before Arts. I wonder what you'll be able to summon lol.

Anyway, I can tell why Nomura wanted to hide the HUD until now, because it reveals that you can switch between characters. My guess is Noctis will be the quick-striking, long combo-centered fast one; the second will have a heavier weapon with slower, but more powerful attacks, and the third will use a gun(s) for third-person shooting. Seemingly it appears that you can switch between them at will, except for the mandatory scenes with Noctis.

Another thing I noticed is that the team has swapped out Noctis for the older guy with the beard with the earlier TGS/etc trailers. At the end of this trailer, the older man is the one swapped in for the standoff between him and the mage. Now we clearly see his face, and the mage is an old sage apparently. The older man (Let's call him Noctis Senior) is the one sitting at the throne. My guess is he is Noctis's father, based on Noctis sitting on the throne while N Senior is away. Interestingly, Noctis Senior is the one holding that big gun sword that I presumed would be exclusively owned by Noctis. Perhaps Noctis Senior dies later on in the game and Noctis inherits not only the throne, but also the weapon associated with the bloodline.

FFXIII isn't my cup of tea in the gameplay department, but I'm really looking forward to Vs.

IMHO, this looks like a bad mix between devil may cry, prototype and dinasty warriors.. on the hack and slash genre, nothing has more atention from me than RISING!

So is ths still PS3 only? Hopefully not. I mean i should have a PS3 in my house before this is out, but still, I've grown so attached to my Xbox 360.

Final fantasy versus 13, I'd rather see that game finished before I see announcements for sequels. They're trying to do too much and coming up short, like FF14.

Incredible visuals. INCREDIBLE. Really inspired work here, but I can't get over the fact that the combat looks painfully dull. I mean, why even make it an RPG, if you're going for DMC, then make a kick-ass action game. I think this game will really be brought down by the fact that it can't let go of the burden that it has to be an RPG because it's FINAL FANTASY, y'know, but of course, that's what the buyers still expect, can't go changing things on them. Bottom line, Nomura should be making ACTION games, and they should go find someone who loves RPGs.

I dig the change of scenery, but the hack-n-slashery...not so much, as I've never personally been a fan of that style nor particularly impressed with Square's efforts in this area. For the moment I'm more curious about XIII-2, as I enjoyed X-2 in spite of myself.

I'm liking the more VIII-come-X visual style, however I'm not liking the look of the gameplay at all. Fuck off with this real time bullshit. Tired of every series being turned into generic action titles, as if we didn't get enough of that last generation. Leave my Final Fantasies slow, tactical and turn-based.

Overall, much more excited for XIII-2.

fuck XIII-2 ILL WAIT 4 THIS !!!!

FF Versus XIII looks like a Kingdom Hearts game with the Disney characters ripped out, followed by running a "Next-Gen filter" to make everything grey and brown. The signs on the buildings and that brief bit where they were in a grassy area looked pretty memorable, though.
That's to say I'll probably enjoy it as a rental but never go out of my way to buy it.

I'm far more interested in FFXIII-2. But I don't remember seeing any gameplay of that one yet. If they screw that up, then I'll just return to my usual habit of ignoring anything with the Final Fantasy name.

I'm worried about the game play. While 13 wasn't the best it still made you plan vs 13 looks like it will just be mindless. I need to see more.

yeah i gotta admit.. FF versus 13 has been something i've been interested in for a long while now.. but it'll never come out..

Well, if the gameplay is more entertaining than FFXIII and the characters are actually worth two shits, then I'm on board with this. Maybe a little exploration like... actual towns with shops in them would be cool... you know... inns and stuff? People to talk to? Fucking do it.

I've been really excited for this game for a long time. Good to see someone finally starting to give it some attention. Video is DAMN dark though. Very difficult to see.

This games looks better every time a new trailer comes out. One question I have though is has anything been said about whether or not this is a prequel to thirteen, because these city environments look they they could easily be the ruins on Gran Pulse.

Anyone else feels freaked out but also pleasantly suprised at the more "modern" take on a final fantasy game? It's definitly a final fantasy with the monsters and magic, but the environments have that serious look reminiscent of modern architectures with metropolises that feels very real. They might have stumbled on something very powerful here.

Somehow, I feel like we're going to get a Versus XIII-2 down the line. SE stated that Versus XIII fit into the XIII "universe", but takes place in a different era. I get the feeling SE is trying to create a saga of some kind with two different, but somehow parallel timelines.

1. XIII-2 is going to be a girl power XIII with a massage minigame. It will be better than XIII, at least. No one asked for it but Square's going to stop the presses on all other projects to make this one come out with fewer than 3 delays.

2. Versus XIII should be renamed FFXV and taken out of the Fabulous Crystals Whatever scheme. It will not be as good as it looks but will still be fun and original. I'm way more excited for the latter. If it comes out.
