So maybe developing 3-4 Final Fantasy games at the same time, or around the same time, wasn't the best option? I would love to place my bet that Versus 13 ends up being Square Enix's Gran Turismo 5. A billion years in development and you wonder what they spent the time on.
Not that it matters, FF is a husk of what it used to be. I used to buy strategy guides for FF games I didn't even own, I was such a huge fan. Now, I can't even be bothered to finish them because of how boring and easy they are (never finished 12 or 13).

I swear, Nomura is the worst thing to happen to Final Fantasy and Square-Enix. The man needs to pick a god damn project and stick with it.
So Kingdom Hearts 3 won't get started until this game is finished. I wouldn't be surprised if this game won't get really started until XIII-2 is finished. And they already stated that XIII-2 is being designed with planned DLC in mind, so say goodbye to Kingdom Hearts 3 before you're 80.
Such a joke. The Tales series is the only non-pedo jrpg stable left for me. I sold my useless wii, so no dqx for me. Star Ocean is just...ughh and Persona will most likely sit this gen out.

When the guy says "full production," I'm almost getting that he means what we'd consider to be "crunch time" where the meat of the game gets pumped out.
So basically, the framework for the game is already done by the core members, now they're expanding the team and moving into "full production."

It was unveiled at E3 2006 which was the same year the PS3 & Wii were released, now it's now 2011 the game hasn't even been put into full production, and we're getting the successor to the Wii and their are rumors floating around about the successors of the 360 & PS3.
Pretty much what dinnertimeninja said. Sounds like the core team has been hard at work but there's the "cavalry" so to speak has yet to arrive, working on other games being pushed out the door sooner.

It's to the point where I just don't give a damn about this game nor the Kingdom Hearts series anymore...which is a shame because I loved the Kingdom Hearts games and Birth By Sleep was a good addition, but a person can only wait for these things for so long before they just stop caring. I'm at that point.

With all due respect, WHAT THE FUCK have they been doing all this time?! It sounds like maybe they announced it too early or something. You'd think if they still haven't gotten into full production then this team could have been working on Kingdom Hearts 3. I think I remember Nomura saying we won't see KH3 until versus comes out. This means we're not gonna see KH 3 until like 2020 (I may or may not be exaggerating!).
It's too bad considering this game has interested me way more than FF13 ever has.

I can certainly share the frustration on this one, but thankfully, things seemed pretty optimistic in that interview. For once he seems excited to show off what he’s made rather than telling us what he wants to make.
This is why Square Enix is hurting financially right now. I mean Versus XIII was announced pretty much the same time XIII was announced and it's still not in full development? All that tells me is they've been wasting time and money that could have been better spent focusing on one game and making it work.
They wasted time and money on the production of XIII as well, and even admitted it when they said there was more than enough unused material to make another game entirely. That's not something to boast about, that means you're not doing your job right.
To me it seems like they are doing a GREAT job of dreaming up new ideas, but a terrible job at implementing them, and you're only going to make money if you can solidify your ideas into a sell-able product.
Also, what about FF Type Zero? Is that still a thing?

FF8 had controllable cutscenes. You know what? Forget it, I'm done. Even if this bloated monstrosity ever gets finished, I won't be buying it. I never really thought it was the second coming like most fans seem to, but this has gone from frustrating to expected to sad to funny and right into don't even give a shit anymore mode.

There's actually a big chunk of gameplay, in the form of a trailer, and the combat looks akin to Kingdom Hearts.

Ahh I'm past caring, if it's good I'll play it, if not meh whatever. Square is like an old friend that got brain damage a while back and going to go see them is kind of depressing, so you avoid it.
But yeah, you people need to use your brain. It's most likely a translation error, with Nomura explaining that they're moving into another stage of production. None of you have any idea how much they have done, so of course you just assume the worst. He said they're working on voice recording, which you don't really do early on.
