Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Anyone that was originally excited when we told you about Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War coming to the PlayStation Portable probably still is. And those that are newly conflicted because of this and are now thinking about breaking down and buying a PSP probably still are. I don't know if the new Japanese television commercial will help settle things for those people, but we'll put it up anyway and let you wrestle with the idea a little more.

Just being able to tote around the Square masterpiece that we fell in love with about 10 years ago would be great, but seeing (and hearing) it reworked like this is getting fans hot under the collar. The video doesn't show much in the way of game footage, but there's just enough to get excited. The music in this commercial is thought to be the game's opening introduction music - I don't know how much has been redone from the original, but this sounds incredible.

Japanese will get their hands on this title on May 10th and a domestic release cannot come soon enough. So, did you get your PSP yet?

That CG is fucking beautiful. Why more developers don't use cell shading is beyond me. There's a decent chance of me picking this up, but I've a hell of a lot of games to play though before the opportunity will arise.

I picked up a PSP last week because of this game and a few other (MGS, GOW, FF, etc) and so far I love the PSP.

I love the original for PS1. I just can't justify buying a PSP to play this though.

-> Dale: Well, actually the US got it 5 years before europe, ableit on ps1. At least the european PSP version is 100% import friendly to you yanks. It is one the two psp games I actually own, though. Also, for every title we get before america, there are 80 we don't get until 5+ months later, and 20 we never see at all. Region locks are a pain in the fucking ass.

I got my PSP and it was finally made into a worthwhile system back in February when my buddy (And Dale's!) Tony did a little handiwork on it.
I'm presently enjoying me some Tobal 2, Vandal Hearts and Final Fantasy I Anniversary action on the system.
Gotta love that Square included english on the Japanese release of FFI.

I never flashed back my psp from 1.x so now I have a 3.0 psp and can't do all of that sweet emulation stuff I planned on doing. I planned on emulating Final Fantasy 1&2 on it, then I realized that I couldn't. But now, hells yeah, I get to buy the remake of FF2 (which is what I really wanted). I am very excited now for the psp given that Chains Of Olympus and these FF titles.

Would prefer a PS2 copy of FFT released for the UK. But that will rock too.
