Remember when commercials for Final Fantasy VII were airing and nerds were up in arms over their complete lack of actual gameplay footage? Yeah, I was one of those nerds. But oddly enough, I'm totally okay with just seeing loads of gorgeous CG footage in Square-Enix's Final Fantasy IV remake trailer, first shown at the Square-Enix Party 2007. Something about seeing the Tower of Babel realized in gorgeous, shiny CG just hits me. Y'know, here. [Points awkwardly at heart.]

I'm okay with SE totally whoring out this franchise so long as it continues to do so in this general direction. How 'bout cutting out the sixth Final Fantasy XIII spinoff in development and getting work started on a remake of Final Fantasy VI

Hey, it could happen. Why the hell are you laughing?

Need FFVI remake on DS in the style of the III and upcoming IV remake. For greatest justice.

They need to hurry up and grind through remaking all the FF games I don't care about so they get to the ones I do.

I can't wait! Look's great! Golbez's theme! Woo hoo!
NERD MOMENT OF THE DAY: I am confused, though -- didn't the dwarven tank raid on Babel occur in the underground world?
Wow ... shut up, Chad ... :(

I love that Golbez' theme still rocks.

FFIV FTW.

The day the FFVI DS remake is announced, I seriously will jump over the moon. Not too bothered about IV when I've still not done III... argh!

I'd like to know what the cutscenes are rendered on though, and a bit more info on the video compression techniques used to make it look so shiny on the DS. Anyone any ideas?

Chad, you're right. But the dwarven tanks also served as a distraction for the Giant of Babel once it had been activated so Cecil and the party could make it in without getting their shit splattered. While we don't see the Giant in that footage, I'm assuming that's what's going on.

Then again, Takashi Tokita did say that only 15% of his original intended scenario made it into the final SNES original. Maybe there's some major rewrites coming.

I was dissappointed.

I was really hoping for this trailer to break out and go nuts at some point. Show us some Space Whale action, alittle airship chase, maybe a little time in Rydia's Village, Tellah Thrwoing down the Ultima, or some Town of Mysida. Or geez, some Paladin vs Dark Paladin throw down. I'll even accept some establishing shots of the Dwarven City, the city of summoned monsters, Edward playing his stupid lyre or an Edge of Eblan moment or two.

Theme of Love is nice and all, but . . . I wanted to be more hyped up by this :D FF "II" was pretty righteous.

I really enjoyed that game . . .

This and a potential FF VI 3D for the DS are the only two Squenix remakes I have any interest in, ever.

Once they announced the remake of final fantasy 4 I immediately stopped playing Final Fantasy 6 for the GBA. It's time will come...

Whilst this looks nice I'm not planning to get a DS so the original will have to do for me. Now a PS3 remake of VI ... THAT would be enough to make me buy a PS3, it's possibly the only thing that could. If only SE were content to do what the fans want and not what the fans are willing to pay for.

Sorry for the dual-post, but on topic; I didn't enjoy FF2/4 that much. Probably because I made the ill decision of playing it after FF6 and Chrono Trigger. So maybe this remake will let me see what everyone else sees in this game.

I'd probably never play a remake of FFVI (The Greatest Game In The History Of All Things Ever(tm)), but that's only because there's a 97% chance I'd have exploded over a very wide area when the announcement was made. *gurgles that the thought* Just a pumped up version of that opening would be enough for me to die happy.

Though having said that, I'd still go back to the original immediately afterwards, because I'm a puristic old bastard like that.

If this so called Final Fantasy is so good, they should release multiple copies of the same game and really milk it for all it's worth... imo

@Buck Fitches: LM-effing-AO.

All I really need out of FFVI anymore is one of the Figaro twins in Super Smash Bros.

A remake would kick twelve different brands of ass, though.

Pangloss: I hadn't though of that.

You may have just ruined one of my games of the year in a single sentence. SSBB will be dead to me without Edgar and Sabin.

Get on it [b]NOW[b/] Nintendo!

@ Chad, I was wondering the exact same thing. Thanks for the reminder Linde.

I was hoping to see some CG of the giant Babel Robot myself, but soon enough. They can't blow their load on the first trailer, now can they.

I also have to say that this is one of the first times I'm disappointed in the Japanese voice acting. Cecil sounds like a 10 year old. He's supposed to be a bad ass dark knight at the beginning. Well, I guess that's something we won't have to worry about since I'm sure they'll americanize the voices just for us.
