Final Fantasy: Dissidia is one of only a handful of PSP games I'm truly looking forward to this year. My playthrough in Tokyo last year seemed to indicate that Square Enix was expanding upon the combat in Crisis Core, and the sheer amount of fan service contained within the fighting game is too much to ignore.
We have ten screens for you to look at with your eyes, as well as a press release that confirms the game will have an Autumn release window in the PAL territories. It's about damn time, too. This game seems to have been on the cards forever, and I want my Kuja now!
London (26th March 2009) – Square Enix Ltd., the publisher of Square Enix® interactive entertainment products in Europe and other PAL territories, today announces that DISSIDIA® -FINAL FANTASY®- will be released across Europe and all PAL territories in Autumn 2009, exclusively on the PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system.
Celebrating over 20 years of world’s most popular adventure game series. DISSIDIA -FINAL FANTASY- brings together the largest cast of FINAL FANTASY characters ever assembled in a single game. The most famous heroes and villains will now collide in a war that threatens to tear the world apart.
DISSIDIA -FINAL FANTASY- takes one-on-one fighting to a new action-packed level on the PSP. Through expansive 3D environments, players can glide through the air, dash along walls and perform summons familiar to fans of FINAL FANTASY. Complete with all the character progression and customisation expected from the series, DISSIDIA -FINAL FANTASY- truly delivers the action, spectacle and emotion of FINAL FANTASY in the ultimate portable fighting experience.
John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. comments, “With so many favourite heroes and villains contained in one game, DISSIDIA -FINAL FANTASY- is certainly going to appeal to fans of FINAL FANTASY. We also hope that players unfamiliar with the series are also attracted by an action-packed experience that really showcases the PSP and is set to become an instant classic on the system.”
About DISSIDIA -FINAL FANTASY-
Story
Cosmos, the goddess of harmony. Chaos, the god of discord. Reigning from distant realms, the two gods had gathered warriors from all lands to lead them in savage war.
Cosmos and Chaos were of equal strength. It was believed the conflict would last forever. However, the balance is now broken.
Those who answered Chaos's call created an inexhaustible force. And under vicious attack without relent, the warriors fighting for Cosmos started to fall one by one. The conflict that has continued for eons is now about to end in Chaos' favour.
The world has been torn asunder, sinking into a vortex of disorder. As for the few surviving warriors… their fates have yet to be determined.

I, uh, obtained the Japanese release, and with the help of a 100% save from gamefaqs, played the hell out of it. This game is a heck of a lot of fun, despite my limited understanding of whats going on. I couldnt customize move sets or equipment or anything...
This one should be on the radar of anyone who likes a good 1v1 brawler type game. Its got fan service in spades, of course, but theres an interesting and fairly complex combat system behind it, as far as i can tell.
Thats only...1...2...3...4...Too fucking long to wait.
Me iz not amuzed. :/
Warrior of Light, Frioniel, Onion Knight, Cecil, Butz, Tina/Terra, Cloud, Squall, Zidane, Tidus, Shantotto
Garland, The Emperor, Cloud of Darkness, Golbez, Exdeath, Kefka, Sephiroth, Ultimecia, Kuja, Jecht, Gabranth
The game is awesome and loads of fun. I've put around 50hrs into it and have managed to learn what most of the abilities and equipment are and what they do.
Each character learns new attacks as they go and several of them have unique fighting styles that you need to learn if you want to be effective with them. The Emperor for example, is played best by keeping your distance and getting your opponent to run into traps, while Cloud is, of course, Cloud, and excels at beating the snot out of people.
Also, playable Ultros would have been so awesome. NAWT!!!!!
