BioWare has announced the next and final bit of downloadable content for Dragon Age: Origins today. It's called "Witch Hunt," and it's out on September 7 for "560 BioWare" points on PC. In human American money, that's about $6.99 for PlayStation 3, which means Xbox 360 owners will be shelling out 560 MS Points.
Can't say too much about what the downloadable content is about without having you guys yell at me about spoilers, so I won't bother. If you're interested, you can check out the details on BioWare's official site. Needless to say, there's a witch involved. You'll be able to import your character from Origins or Awakening, or use a fresh character if you wish.

I've seen people bitching about this being the last piece of DLC after BioWare had promised two years of content, but I'd much rather have DA2, if I'm honest.
there are shitty free mmos that look better than this
Good things, I imagine.
Originally we were going to have Dragon Age 2 be a continuation of the series, but after we fucked that up we're gonna release half assed DLC that ends Morrigan's story instead of a proper game.
I hate to sound like a rabid fanboy, but I really feel like DA2 has ruined everything Dragon Age had going for it.
About the story: [FUTURE SPOILER]
I'm pretty sure that this DLC will told the story of how the son of Morrigan becomes the protagonist of DA2.
Oh hell yes. She was my love interest, time to put her down!
Regardless it will be interesting to see what happens, choices are suppose to matter if you import your grey warden from whats been said on the bioware forums
In my first playthrough I went through with the ritual and I don't know what I'll be doing this time. Choices...
As I often do, I have saved all of the DLC for purchase until the final one drops (did the same with Fallout 3, GTAIV, etc) so now I'm excited to get back into DA:O.
Unless time travel exists in Dragon Age, that's impossible. Hawke was in Lothering during the Blight, so how can he be Morrigan's son if he was born before DA:O?
You derpy derper.
I skipped DAO, but I knew I'd get around to it some day, being a huge BG fan. I hope they do a Goty box with everything in it. I really hate messing around with all these tiny add ons.
better yet, just don't play DA:O
if you have the good sense to like Baldur's Gate, you'll hate DA:O (it's really bad)
People who disagree have no sense
LOOK OTAKUDAD I CAN BE A MASSIVE DICKWAD TOO
But yeah, I wonder about this stuff. Will my Warden be available for the DLC? I wonder.
"I hate to sound like a rabid fanboy, but I really feel like DA2 has ruined everything Dragon Age had going for it."
How?
@timtheterrible
I have not play Dragon Age 2. I am basing my opinion off of the knowledge I've gathered from previews and information released by the developer.
Origins was great because it was a refined throwback to old-school PC RPGs. Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights 1, and etc. Those games aren't frequently made anymore, and as a trade off, fewer games reach the level of depth that the genre established in the early 00s.
Instead we've developed into this streamlined RPG type of affair. Which is not a bad thing. Mass Effect 2 is by far the best example of streamlined RPG, and I'd call it one of the best games this year- but Dragon Age Origins beats it any day.
DA:O was going to further experiment with ME's "transfer your character data over" and was going to continue to have appeal to the old-school PC RPG genre. Instead we have confirmation from BioWare themselves that it doesn't take place in the same land, the battle system (which was highly praised) has been scraped, and they've basically hit the reset button in favor of this new DA2 system which is being compared to God of War.
I liked DA:O for its high necessity for tactics, and strategy coupled with the extremely deep lore surrounding the narrative of the first game. When I first heard DA2 was such a dramatic shift I was skeptical, when I heard the new battle system I was disappointed, and this information furthers that skepticism and disappointment. Originally they were going to experiment with character transfer but now they've abandoned it entirely instead giving us a DLC which I assume will be just as terrible as the previous four DLCs released for DA after Awakenings.
To play Devil's Advocate, I think the combat will still provide for a great deal of strategy. Everything I've heard just makes it sound like it's going to be faster paced (less/no load times on spells, etc). You'll still be able to pause, issue commands, zoom out, etc. Also, I don't see the richness of the narrative lore going away either.
The two points though, that there really isn't an argument against (one of which you made) are the character transfer and, I would argue, the conversation system. As for the character, I think it would have been cool to stretch out the Warden's tale and have it ultimately conclude with him doing "something" to deal with the Blight within himself, but I'm optimistic that the sequel's story will be as strong as the first game's. The only thing I'm pretty skeptical about is the conversation system. I just don't see how they're going to achieve any kind of real moral ambiguity (a touted feature of the first) with a system that clearly labels the "intent" behind all of your dialog options.
If they're removing that function, I'm not buying the game, personally.
@DinosaurPizza, don't write the game off yet. Video game journalists are, for the most part, awful at writing. The God of War comparison just sounds like lazy writing. As Richard Blaine so eloquently posted, it's to speed up the action and make it more visceral.
How can you guys not be intruiged by the narrative structure? I'm glad they're speeding up the action because everything felt so slow. Also, I'm really happy for the dialogue wheel making an appearance. During my first DA:O playthrough, I didn't mind the mute main character but a second playthrough had me craving a voiced player character.
I'm excited for this DLC but like others, I was really hoping this storyline would be weaved into DA 2's main plot.

For those who are unaware, Flemmeth turns into a big fuckoff dragon and beats the crap out of you if you confront her... but, she does die (I had her dead before I finished my second scenario and was expecting something cool for it) and she drops no loot. Its generally a worthless encounter, but I think she was harder most/any boss in the game.
What gives?
Gotcha. Ok, unless it gets universally beloved and recommended, it's a bargain bin purchase.
