FFXIII coming to Xbox 360? Possibly maybe

FFXIII coming to Xbox 360? Possibly maybe photo
How many wolves have to die?

FFXIII going the way of Assassin's Creed and Virtua Fighter 5? Can it be? According to Georges Fornay, president of Sony Computer Entertainment France, it just might. In a recent interview with Fronsh newspaper Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace, Fornay discussed the astounding development costs of next-gen games and the effect those costs are having on the PS3's library of exclusive titles.

"The development costs of games have exploded, and it has become more difficult to have exclusives, outside of our own games...

...As far as Final Fantasy XIII goes, I can tell you that the exclusivity is in discussion."

That's not exactly concrete proof, but when you stop to consider that Hironobu Sakaguchi (creator of the Final Fantasy series) has called the 360 an "Excellent development platform" and been heard to say things like "I don't like the PS3's architecture," the idea isn't so far fetched, especially since FFXIII's White Engine is multi-platform. What do you think? If you suddenly had a choice, which console would you want to play it on? Would you still want a PS3 if you don't already have one?

I'm pretty sure this statement was already dissected to a molecule in a previous post.

And Sakaguchi isn't a part of Square-Enix anymore, so what he says doesn't really matter.

And I do want a PS3.

...just not at the moment.

I'll be interested in buying a PS3 as soon as a game comes along to justify the cost. Until then, no, I don't want one. As for FFXIII, it's not a game I care about either way, so yeah, whether or not it remains exclusive matters little to me.

I don't really have a preference as far as which system I'd prefer to play FFXIII on. I intend to own both, so whichever it runs better on I guess. Maybe the 360, for Achievements, if Sony doesn't get their style of Achievements going soon...

I would choose to play it on whatever console it operated best on.

the *Price* of the PS3 will eventually come down...perhaps within the next two years when the HDTV bonanza occurs...thats right, we all will be buying HDTVs in two years when they stop making inferior sets. So everyone who wants one(PS3) but doesn't really want to bend over and show their brown winking eye to Sony now will have plenty of opportunities to do so in the future...

Show me someone who'd prefer to play a multi-platform game on a console other than Xbox 360 and I'll show you someone who hasn't experienced Xbox Live.

I concur with bleep. Sony made a machine that they say will last 10 years, and as crazy as it might sound, I'm pretty confident in that claim.

Unless Tekken 6 and MGS4 go multiplatform, I would still want a PS3. In the past I have bought systems based on the games. I bought a PS1 for FF7, a PS2 for DOA2, and a 360 for Gears of War. But with the graphics performance that the PS3 and 360 can produce, I don't think that applies anymore. Both are very close, so I don't mind that DMC4 and VF5 are coming to the 360.

FF is the one thing keeping me on the fence between the 360 and the PS3. If all of the FFXIII games are on both the 360 and the PS3, I'll get a 360.

Please Square, find it in your heart to save me $200, Ill gladly buy the super deluxe editions that cost more if you do.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD BE TRUE!!
If I can save 600 bucks and get FF13 on my 360, that would be the greatest thing ever...
because I would buy a PS3 for FF13 and MGS4, and if just one came to 360 I would save the money

I think it'd be smart for Sony to pay WHATEVER it'd cost to keep this an exclusive and think of it as an investment in the PS3's future. It may have more power and potential than the 360, but lack of exclusives might lead to the system tanking before we ever get to see that potential. Betamax was better quality than VHS but we all know who won that one.

FFXIII on 360 would be a dream (hardest achievment in the game? Finding a masculine man, 450 gamerscore) and I believe there is a chance but I'm guessing the Frenchie just chose his words wrong. If sony were losing exclusivity they wouldn't announce it, Squeenix would (like capcom just did). As far as the impact of it on my choice of buying a ps3, the lose of FF would delay it but I still think I will eventually end up with one, but not before all this potential crap they talk about turns from future tense to present tense.

When it rains it pours. I've been holden out trying to decide which system to get. This pretty much does it for me.I am all about playing now! This saves me a couple of bucks now and when ps3 gets their act together with a bigger library and a price reduction then I am there too.

I really cannot not believe this I am being more and more disappointed that I bouught a PS3 every moment. This game is THE reason that I had to have both. I will wait and see which system it runs better on. I'm sure there are still games that I will only be able to get from owning a PS triple.

Don't jump the gun, guys. Let Sean Fischer (from AllRPG.com) drop a little wisdom on you:

"Now, as far as the issue of exclusivity, I think the fact that negotiations are being made on exclusivity is nothing but assurance that it will happen, honestly. S-E is foolish if they don't continue negotiations for as long as possible in order to get the best deal for themselves that they can. I'm not sure how explaining that exclusivity is under negotiation translates to it losing exclusivity."

I'm getting a PS3 regardless. I've already bought some the PS2 games I wanted (never bought a PS2) so I'm pretty much set on this path (unless backwards compatibility gets completely ignored as some of the games I've gotten supposedly won't work). Besides, it's not like the PS3 won't have many great games, even if they turn out to be multiplatform. If there is this concern about budget and developers intend to give a slice to the 360, the only other system (outside of the PC) they can distribute this generation's high development expense to is still the PS3, at least with regards to games developed with high end systems in mind. Of course it'll be along wait for me til prices go down. I'm pretty confident that the software library will turn out well (they LOOK good so far though that's never a guarantee) but prices need to be cut by 50% (i.e. the $600 system) and most importantly, the hardware better not be riddled with defects that happen to brick the system mere months after warranty. That's why with a cheaper system you can at least replace it cheaply. Paying $300 to replace a system is a big no-no (not even $200) and it's why despite such a great library, the PS2 never had me. Now let's just hope the PS3 is a better made system. For the price they ask it had better be immortal.

As far as Online goes, PS3 is still better for me since it's free. The 360 may have a better setup but I can't live with paying monthly/yearly fees. It's why I don't play MMORPGs (if it flops or gets closed, you get nothing you can play years down the line). I'd even take the Wii friend codes as long as it's free. I'm pretty casual as far as online games go anyway.

Ok I want a new Virtual On done by the original team with online play and Co-oP.

I have have all ps1,2,psp and also the new ps3 and im delighted to say they have all been a a great acomplishment. with the new x box 360 battling against the ps3 i take no notice in the argument but as such play station has had final fantasy from the erly final fantasy 3 i think and taking that away from final fantasy fans is not exceptable if anything Xbox fans will want a ps3 for this game because it is a wildly enjoyed game and fans of xbox 360 got a xbox 360 thinking that it has such games as halo and final fantasy 13 if thats the case but i dnt think that we as in play station fans would like it to be on a xbox 360 as its a legacy of play station. p.s if it does go to xbox i will be exstreamly pist lol
