FF VII: Advent Children Blu-ray dated for America photo

Square-Enix's "whoring of Final Fantasy VII" celebration all began with this little beauty, and it can be yours on Blu-ray this June 2. The movie sequel to the classic game will cost you $38.96, and will come packed with a truckload of features.

Re-recorded with the original voice cast, Advent Children Complete brings twenty-six minutes of fresh footage to the table, a new anime short called "On the Way to a Smile - Episode: Denzel" and a whole other bunch of extras including a featurette, documentary and storyline digest.

Unfortunately, Square Enix's stance on releasing the playable demo of Final Fantasy XIII with Complete has not changed. Apparently, the Xbox 360 has RUINED it again, with Squeenix claiming that because the game is released on both 360 and PS3 in the West, only Japan may have the demo. That is not logical in the least, but there you go.

Anybody picking it up next month?

Ugh, the only, and I mean ONLY redeeming value this movie has is it's "pretty". Even ignoring the fact that it shits all over the game, on it's own, the story is absolutely atrocious. How can people actually like this steaming pile?

$38.96 is too much for a movie.

I look foward to this, but as for the demo; if the game's no longer freaking exlusive, atleast the demo could be... bastards..

Once it comes to European shores, I will buy it. However, if that wait will run into months, I'll just import it from the US.

I didn't go into it with massively high expectations, simply because I knew they could not fit in an overly long, epic storyline into a 90-minute film. What I saw in the film certainly blew my expectations out of the window, solid voice acting, gorgeous visuals, a decent enough, if light, storyline and most of all, stunning fight seqeunces.

I don't about other people who watched the film, but the fight seqeunces alone made the film for me, making it one of the main reasons I still watch the film from time to time. That and the CGI is just great to look at

It was decent fan service, at that is enough from me. Sure it can be seen as poor compared to the game, but at least it didn't completly abandon it's source material as 95 percent of other game movies do. I was certainly impressed by it, being a long time FF fan.

I enjoy the movie. I felt the story suffered from the restrictions on length; flesh it out to a 20 hour minimum game (which, of course, Square is much better at) and itd probably be pretty good. Meanwhile, everything else was fun to watch, and the new content is well worth it.

Although my flatmate already has the Jap release (for that tasty FF XIII demo of course) so no point buying it. Not that im US anyway...

I find the movie to be pretty and appealing to the FF fanboy within me. But even I have my limits. $38.96? Jeez.

Right now, it's on Amazon for $23, which is a lot more acceptable. I don't know if that's a preorder thing, but I always find Amazon to be a lot cheaper when it comes to movies the brick and mortar stores.

I will definately buy this. Then promptly have sex with it, ruining it in the process. Then i'll spend ANOTHER $40 to get a second copy. Take that.

Square-Enix does realize that the only reason this thing sold so well in Japan was because of the demo, right? RIGHT!?

Amazon is selling the Blu-ray for 22.99, that's 40% off the regular price.

Amazon = Awesome...zon.

My only nerf is that it's a couple bucks shy of Super Saver Shipping, and that shipping would likely be more than the couple bucks difference, so I now need to find an excuse item to join with it. Maybe FFIV(DS)? Hmm... Maybe a Blu-ray player at all (don't has, but at $23, I don't see how it'd get cheaper until much later)!

already got the JP version, which has the english language for the movie, but not the extras...

all in all it's pretty awesome (i really enjoyed before too though). the 26 minutes they added are mostly to flesh out the story (especially for those that didn't play the game). and are some of the most beautiful shots. about 85% of this is straight up amazing to look at in HD, however they try to use this focus/out of focus effect that works fine when you know you're filming WITH A CAMERA!!! but, here it seems out of place, and looks absolutely horrible.

I'd give it an A- and is totally worth $23 (the $70 my girlfriend spent on the import is questionable, but a totally sweet birthday present.)
