Quantcast

The above video popped up on Youtube yesterday and it appears to be the first fully-English cutscene from the upcoming Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. Honestly, I was excited enough about this title just based on the past history of the series, but to see it sporting an art style that's vaguely reminiscent of something you'd see in the PG-cut of Heavy Metal makes the wait for the game's October release even more difficult.

Wow, that looks absolutely fantastic. And I have to say, while English accents generally are overused in the fantasy genre, I think it fits right in with FFT.

This almost makes me want to go out and waste money on a PSP...

From what I've seen, besides the really nice cutscenes and the new job class, the entire game looks EXACTLY the same as the original PlayStation game.

however I would consider fft to be a good use of the english accents unlike heavenly sword. considering balthier had an english accent, and a lot of characters from ivalice in ff12 had english accents and they are indeed set in the same general land it only makes sense.

good stuff

This video looks gorgeous. Kinda makes me want to run out and buy a psp. Think I'll wait on the castlevania game first. Then maybe I'll throw away some money for two games.

Those are some pretty quality voices, I'm surprised. Much better than Delita and Ramza sounding like five year olds.

Us British will force our way into all of your favourite games from contra to mass effect, then when you least expect it we will stop voice acting and you will feel disappointed because you have gotten used to Britishness and monocles in all your favourite games!

It is a plan that is sure to lead to glory, it will be revenge for the attacks on the deathstar!

also the game looks good. That cutscene looks cool but I would be unsure about a whole game rendered like that.

DO FUCKING WANT

I actually just started FFT again the other day. This game makes me want a PSP and pants that don't feel so tight.

That's right man. Hit the bitch. You can't let the woman run her mouth like that.

Also, much like raycosm, I'm Captain Basch!

wow finally Ramza sounds like a guy. I had my doubts he was a flat breasted female with that name and... hair style.

the only thing I hope they fixed is the lag the jp version had. for no reason the jp version had major lag when doing moves, but the PSX hacked version played fine, so I think dev fugged up.

Unfortunately, I think there's around ten or less cutscenes.

You know, those lines read a lost less corny so many years ago than they sound now. Its moderately upsetting that this may ruin my memories of the original.

And here I come to ruin everyones day...

The Japanese version suffered from severe lag and slowdown. I have heard complaints that this made the game ridiculously slow. That plus the PSP's low battery life made for a very frustrating experience. And from what I have heard and read about (as in: this may have changed and should not be taken as fact,) there is no plans to fix this in the English-language versions.

This is all fine and dandy but...lacking a nose is so last-gen.

The original is one of my most played games and this almost makes me want to get a psp.

Agrias like a mofo.
If I saw a PSP at a flea market, really cheap, underneath a bunch of boxes, and the vendor doesn't speak english; then I'd totally get one for FFT.

Riser, the only thing the jp version had prob was the lag on certain action moves (ie power attack moves) thats primarly it. but battery lowlife? wtf is that?

PSP lasts 5-7 hours playing this game, im proof of it. Im sorry i love FFT, but playing 5-7 hours of it I think its too much game time for that particular hand held game, and usually a hand held gamers stays put in one place to play, in other words, a smart gamer will plug the PSP or DS. PSP you can even full charge it while playing.

OMG, I too am tempted to buy a psp just for this game. It is my favorite in all of the FF series and making the cutscenes into these animations just makes me drool.

see i was always hoping that their wouldnt be any voice actors as much like zelda it kinda feels weird to hear them actually talking. Favorite game of all time, but maybe i'll stick with my PS1 version

It probably suffered from stupid load time lag. A lot of other tactics games on the PSP have had this issue. Just run it off your memory stick, UMD is shit.

Makes me want to pull out my PS1 copy. Think I'll finally buy a PSP when the not-a-redesign hits. A game this epic deserves a full sized screen so I can better appreciate the jaggies.

I can't agree with you more. I might have to finally suck it up and buy a PSP. FFT is my top game of all time and I thought I could live without it for the PSP... but they added movies! Bastards!
