As for the "rational debate" issue, let's be honest -- there are no rational arguments in video games. Even when the issue of racism was brought up with Resident Evil 5, it was brought up in the worst manner possible (and I'm not referring to N'Gai Croal -- he was at least professional). When somebody argues a point rationally, it's so far out of the realm of the norm that, often times, we're not sure how to react.
But, then those same people usually ruin the intelligent discussion by alluding to your propensity towards sucking cock.

My final thought on the subject is this: if women cry sexism over such seemingly insignificant events, when an instance of sexism that is actually legitimate does occur, people may be less inclined to want to hear their side because of all the bullshit, false-alarms in the past. And that, I think, is truly a shame.

Beyond that, I agree with many of the above points: this woman's critique of the game was fairly ill-informed, and she's using the term heteronormative entirely incorrectly. And thanks to Mr Gilder, I even learned a little bit more about the nature of the game and its "beloved princess."

OOOF! Reading some of the posts on that site make me want to jump off a cliff. It seems like if anyone posts anything that isnt in line with their beliefs they just delete the comment and call you a troll. Ive never seen the word "troll" used in so many consecutive posts. You cant engage in a rational discussion with people like that.

Hey Hertza - why not go take a look at the comments section of the follow-up post she did about the Dtoid article? Basically, all you see (beyond the trolls who actually DON'T post anything of substance) is either clucking and backpattin from each other after having said NOTHING, or blatant and outright sexism against males. The number of times this woman says her favourite little buzzwords, such as "heteronormativity", proves that she doesn't care how or in what context she uses them - she's on verbal fucking autopilot. She's got an opinion, dammit, and no amount of rational debate or discussion is going to dissuade her from whatever shakes the hills with the rallying cries of her supporters. She's a typical, overly PC, I'm-the-only-englightened-one sack of whine; she DESERVES nothing but contempt and lack of seriousness. I can't help you if you don't believe they get a flood of angry idiots, most of them male, who spew their hate loudly every time they write something critical. Bioautographical has stated MANY TIMES her opinion on this issue, and i tend to agree with her entirely, she has deliverede it quite intelligently, and while there is some name calling, if you actually read the shakesville blog, you calling Bioautographical a petty namecaller, and then so entirely defend these "feminists" is like the pot calling the kettle black (seriously those people have some misguided hate).
Nothing i have seen so far on this game denoted a negative attitude towards being obese, rather its an obstacle to be overcome.

What's so great about games and movies that portray fat MEN as oafish, stupid and/or brutal? The day they get all up in arms about that is the day I'll raise a stink about this. They're called fictional archetypes. We have games where women are the protagonist, the hero, the one who saves the day. And we have games where they need rescuing. We have games where men are villains, and some where women are villains. There are also games where turtles and reptiles and animals are villains as well, or need rescuing; I'm sure I'll see PETA and THEIR hysterical nutjobs someday as well, when they've got nothing better to bitch about.

I'm a bit of a fatty myself, and the thought of possible controversy never even occurred to me, when I heard about this game. Wow.
This doesn't bother me, needless to say. Fat people can be way too sensitive, sometimes. I don't like to be made fun of, but if you're overweight, there's a good chance you're responsible for being overweight. It's not good, it's not healthy, and you need to own up to it and deal with it.

They feel self conscious, this game made them more aware of their condition, and they take it out on the game. Or maybe they have such low self esteem that they don't want something that seems representative of them to be something that's valued. Or maybe they feel as if this their physical appearance is being exploited for comedy. Or maybe they get ignored a lot and are in need of attention.
