I just couldn't get into Lost Odyssey at all. I think it was the game that finally made me realize I just couldn't handle another JRPG. But this is good news for those into the genre, as it's one of the least represented on the 360.
Hmm...JRPGs on the 360 are very hit or miss.
As far as Lost Odyssey 2 it would need Sakaguchi for me to pay attention.

I could see Lost Odyssey being an opposiion franchise for Fianl Fantasy. Especially conseidering how good it is. :-)
I wouldn't mind another Lost Odyssey, but what I remember of the ending didn't leave much room for a sequel.
I absolutely love Lost Odyssey, but I really hope it doesn't get a (direct) sequel. I don't want them to bastardize and turn into a cashcow one of my favorite standalone JRPGs of all time. If they borrowed the universe from the game and made a sequel of completely unrelated characters with MAYBE a small cameo or two, I'd be OK.

@Armless-phelan: Well, the characters that remained are immortal, and time passes differently in the other realm, so technically, another 1000 years coudl go by, and we would still have the same cast of immortals to play with.
It's not so much wanting a sequel to LO, but simply wanting another LO type RPG. Great games can be made in a similar vein.
Great story Jim. I too sincerely hope another LO is in the works. I loved that game and I hope that its sequel is inevitable. Feelplus was in charge of all the cinematics and they did an excellent job.
I loved Lost Odyssey. This could be a direct sequel or a new game in the same franchise (like Final Fantasy does). Sakaguchi is the one that started the FF series, LO has a lot of things and themes in common with earlier FF games.
A whole new story under the LO2 title would be the best IMO. Happy they are gonna work on some JRPG for 360 either way. Only bad thing is if they are just starting, it could be a long time before we actually play that thing.

I'm also hoping for another Lost Odyssey. That game and Demon's Souls are by far the best JRPG's of this generation. I would also like to continue the story of Kaim, one the greatest JRPG protagonists ever. By God, if there is another whiny androgynous moody teen with impossible hair I will stab someone.

I don't really see a prequel or sequel working for the existing storyline, unless they run with a parallel story that's set in the realm from which the immortals came and then shows the consequences of the "linking" from that other perspective.

I would love it to be a fourth Shadow Hearts, but I think the rights to the series are with Aruze. Lost Odyssey 2 would be awesome though.

Lost Odyssey has come to represent the end of the classical JRPG era for me.
The Japanese have gone to strictly linear gameplay, and can't settle on a popular combat system to replace turn-based.
Lost Odyssey was a swan song. I'd rather bury the genre and move on.

Hear Hear! Ditto to all the positive comments made for LO. Its sad, but jrpg's of this caliber and style are far and few these days. It actually stands with ff6 in my heart as far as the story went, no small task.
Final Fantasy XIII was quite a game for the ages.
Lost Odyssey however, was a compelling borderline magnum opus of magic and incredible rhythmic dreams all rolled into one. I could sign up for another dose of that. Definitely!
