The 2.5D remake of the notoriously difficult Ghosts 'n Goblins first hit store shelves in 2006, but the PSP title will soon see new life as it arrives on the PlayStation Network tomorrow.

For me, Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins was one of those games you plan on getting before you purchase a new system (in this case, the PSP), but by the time you finally gather enough money to buy said system, you forget to pick the game up.

Unsurprisingly, this remake has multiple difficulty modes so people can actually see the ending this time around, but Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins also contains the regular old brutal difficulty for the sadists in the audience to enjoy.

Oh, and I feel obligated to comment about the game's music. It rocks. That counts, right? Look for Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins in the PSP store tomorrow for $19.99.

Good call on the pricing, Cotton. I had this game for SNES but only beat the second level once. $20 is way too much to re-live that frustration.

$20? Woah. Little heavy there...

Remember... it's not a port of the SNES version. A completely remade 3D rendition is more than worth the asking price.

Fuck yes. Now I don't have to buy a PSP.

But this is another reason to go for the playstation for me. Sorry guys, I really like Ghouls & Ghosts.

This game is decent but it isn't anything to get worked up over. The SNES version is 100X better. I have both for PSP and played the SNES game way more on it.

You're right. It's not a port of the SNES version. There is no SNES version. It's a port of the PSP version. And it's over-priced.

I know it's a port of the PSP version.... in my eyes, it's a similar to Bionic Commando: Rearmed. I ahve no idea how much that costs you guys over PSN, but if this title costs more, than I agree with the call.

It's not a port OF the PSP, it's a port FOR the PSP.

One of us needs to re-read the topic, because I'm reading something completely different. It is in the PSP store afterall.

That series is so much fun and hard compared to Megaman, I think so.

The article is conflicting. First it says it's on PSN and then on the PSP store lulz.

I'm all over this. totally worth the price of admission.
Hell, I bought this for the Genesis at full price, back in the day.

A bit too expensive, but this is one of my favorite PSP games. Well worth the gray hairs that this'll give you (unless you already have the psp version).

dude, whats the point in nit-picking. haha, Ghosts N Goblins and Ghouls and Ghosts is pretty much the same shit man! we ARE gamers, NOT geeks ;)

for people who still don't get what this is about:
It's a psn(psp's psn not ps3's psn) re-release of a UMD game which was released back in 2006.

$20 to be punched in the face? I know hookers on the corner that will do it for less.

Ghoul versions were on Genesis and SNES, Ghosts was on NES and arcade. The main difference between them was you didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of beating Ghosts.

I don't understand what everyone is bitching about when it retailed for $39.99 in 2006 on UMD.

Given that this duration of time would allow it to be a greatest hits title (had it sold more), it's price would be $19.99 brand new.

It's not a downloadable title made exclusively as DLC like Bionic Commando, it's a PSP game. You don't want to buy it, don't. But don't whine for no reason. The pricing is level for a PSP game.

haha, what a bizarre comment. Your right, i feel that the two games are alike because I am actually a poser!? shit, I dont even play games. i just pretend i do, so that people think im cool!

some gamers couldn't give a f*ck about nit-picking details. but, they ARE still gamers! why? because they enjoy playing games.

now a nerd on the other hand. is a person who will research and study every little detail. Sometimes they come across as know-it-alls.

This brings me to Nerd Gamers. This is the category that you [and I] slot into. Dont get me wrong, its not a bad thing. It means that you enjoy games so much, that you are willing to learn all the little details. Heck, we all have a bit of nerd gamer in us.

So, to assume that i am a poser because i dont know all the little details about a game that wouldn't even make it into my top 50 is slighty foolish. I am far from a poser and have dedicated/wasted every spare minute of my life to playing video games and creating media.

Actually there was only one Ghouls and Ghosts game and it was on Genesis and Arcades. Super Ghosts and Goblins was exclusive to SNES. It's not very complex.

munkee:

If you actually liked the games, I figure you'd at least recognize the difference in titles. I don't think a title is really a little detail. You don't need to be a geek to realize they are named completely different things.

@skruloos

many games get different titles as they cross the oceans. But, they are still the same game!

also, you are missing the point. it is still nit-picking or pedantic if you prefer.

Haha this game's "Ultimate mode" is what previous versions' "normal" mode was.

Also, what a stupid argument. In their original Japanese iterations, they were all called the same.

They just would add a prefix of "Great" or "Extreme" to it and that's all. So yes, they're the same game, only that when it got translated down here, there was a continuity slip.

Move along now.

Look, point here is, Ghosts, Ghouls, Goblins, these games are all fucking impossible, no? Seriously, if you beat one of these, kudos I guess, it's an honor sort of like beating Contra which is both incredibly awesome and amazingly pathetic all at the same time.
