Courtesy of last night's amazing episode of GameTrailers TV, here it is: the brand new, exclusive trailer for Resident Evil 5.

After viewing the trailer I thought about handling this post in one of two ways: 1) I could step back and objectively comment on some of the features highlighted in the trailer while dropping some basic info about the game (console, tentative release date, etc.) or 2) I could lose my mind with excitement and completely throw professionalism out the window.

You don’t have to be Professor Layton to figure out which one I chose.

OMG! OMG! OMG! RESIDENT EVIL 5! Are you kidding me with how amazing this game looks? The chainsaw guy is back! OMG! And the graphics? GORGEOUS! I can’t wait for this game! It’s like Resident Evil 4, only SHINY! I am so excited! GAME OF THE YEAR MATERIAL! I CAN’T WAIT!

Why does everyone with a chainsaw feel they need to put a burlap sack over their head?

And for a legitimate concern, if it plays like Resident Evil 4, those huge fucking crowds are going to be god damn impossible.

Also, I'm getting the feeling that up until we link up with her, we're probably going to be doing a lot of running or we're going to get caught in those crowds we saw in the trailer. Can't wait to flip a bus though. God why did you have to post this before I get to play Ninja Gaiden II?! Now, my mind is going to be distracted!

Looks awesome, I really am interested in how they are going to use the glaring day light as a fear factor. Undoubtedly one of RE key elements is the night, in RE4 one of the scariest moments involved backtracking through the village after rescuing Ashley from the church, I couldn't believe what they were asking me to do, it was fucking pitch black with no artificial light in that hick village, utterly terrifying on a primitive level.

Can't wait to find out how Capcom make daylight an equally daunting feature.

I'm so very excited... but yes, it looks like a shiny HD version of 4... which is fine. Maybe this one will have straffing?!

Haha, this is ridiculous. I love that Far Cry 2 and RE 5 depict blacks in Africa as having a collective continental consciousness. "Welcome to Africa"? or "This is our Africa"? Orientalism, baby.

I just hope for online co-op, mercanaries mode, leaderboards, maybe saved replays, Hunk, upgradeable guns, cameos, great story, Hunk and maybe the option to play as one of the mercenaries in story mode. I would have loved to be able to snap necks in RE4's story mode. also hunk

Well, where does South America and Central America fit in this bill? (Or if they said it, where does North America fit in this bill?)

All those useless words aside, it feels like a continuation of RE4 despite the different setting. Similar tentacle enemies as well as the chainsaw guy.

Gameplay is probably going to be similar too.

Which is a good thing. A VERY VERY good thing.

My point is that phrases like that are not typical amongst African peoples and the countries are diverse enough to allow for national identities. It's not welcome in this day and age.
