Courtesy of last night's amazing episode of GameTrailers TV, here it is: the brand new, exclusive trailer for Resident Evil 5.
After viewing the trailer I thought about handling this post in one of two ways: 1) I could step back and objectively comment on some of the features highlighted in the trailer while dropping some basic info about the game (console, tentative release date, etc.) or 2) I could lose my mind with excitement and completely throw professionalism out the window.
You don’t have to be Professor Layton to figure out which one I chose.
OMG! OMG! OMG! RESIDENT EVIL 5! Are you kidding me with how amazing this game looks? The chainsaw guy is back! OMG! And the graphics? GORGEOUS! I can’t wait for this game! It’s like Resident Evil 4, only SHINY! I am so excited! GAME OF THE YEAR MATERIAL! I CAN’T WAIT!

Hmm..something tells me that capcoms reason of putting this new partner is so they could say..Oh your not killing all the nice African Villager, heres a African partner!

So it's the Las Plagus virus again. The only way that could have happened was because of the sample Wesker got from Ada. But I thought Ada gave him a fake.
Anyway, you notice the leach at the very end of the trailer? T-Virus baby.
heh notice the albino and latino looking guys amongst the plagas horde? track covering? hmm?
lol This trailer definitely doesn't pull out the same emotional / relational response as the first one, which is cool. Doesn't mean the first trailer wasn't awkward in its own right, but whatev. RE5 as a product looks hot, and, save for a misinterpretation of Chris's monologue, I don't think there's much threat of palpable finger pointing for the product as a whole.
Lots of thoughts, but I've got sleeping to do. Still a game I'm looking forward to hearing about, and maybe even playing!
If the Las Plagas has already infected everyone when Chris arrives, whats going on in the shots from the earlier trailers when there are people NOT trying to rip his throat out? They're under control to lure him farther into the village/trap maybe.
I've got a feeling they added all the shots of the monster elements of the villagers to attempt to discourage the claim that the game's a racist view of "savage" africans.
Also "There's no reason here, no humanity" is gonna be the new call of the "RE5 is racist!" crowd.
OMG, that was a great trailer can't wait. I hope they have co-op mode because thats hella scary being a white guy in a black neighbor hood like that, lol j/p... Anyways this game needs to come out already. O and I wish Leon was in this I want to play as him again... Maybe in RE6.
I hope Capcom didn't do any sort of editing on behalf of all the pansies that complained, they should give them a big fat "Fuck You" and if anything, add some ACTUAL racism.
However, that looks sexy as all hell. And the massive numbers of zombies? Awesome
Enough with the racism crap, I'm black and tired of that. This is Resident Evil, a game series about zombies. Such is the way of the games, especially post RE4 and Las Plagas, you are gonna see those zombie Predatoresque mouths etc anyway.
The black character was always on the cards, its no reaction to the N'Gai rant brigade. Check Capcom's japanese website, since the released a shot of her ages ago.
Anyway, all looking sweet Capcom. Now see if you can get it to me, before xmas. Much love.
I'm not all that excited about facing those hordes of zombies if Capcom continues with the crappy movement controls. I'm tired of my character in RE games staggering around as if he just had two reconstructive knee surgeries.

Ashley was just an utter chore.
From the plagas on steroids, to the return of chainsaw-wielding maniacs, to the hilariously awful last lines of dialogue, I was blown away.
I can't even begin to imagine what the bosses will be like.
